OK dunno how to explain this so hope i get it right, im basically looking for a program where i can use an object i want of choice and add light sources to it to see the effects of light on it to make it easier when coming up with designs for drawing, but i wanna use different colour light sources to make it interesting, am i making sense?

If you want advanced try 3DS MAX

Else blender is good and they taught it at my old school in Art.

(Just realized my reply is very algorithm like sigh)

Yeah, there are lots of much better paid-for apps out there. All depends on how much your company is willing to capex on software and training :D
