hi guys,

I've borrowed my friend's vodacom 3G usb and inserted my contract sim card, with 1GB data loaded into it. Once i plug it into the usb it installs all the relevant software etc. and upon completion of everything i get an error message saying. "No SIM inserted.." I've tried reinstalling, taking out sim putting back in, other usb..no success. does anyone have some advise for me? the sim should be set to "contract" if I understand correct?

Silly question, but have you inserted the SIM card the correct way? If you have, then test the device with your friend's sim card. Could be the device is faulty?

We once had a guy in store who cut out the chip on the sim card and tried to insert it into the memory card slot, priceless.

Oh, I didn't take note of the forum. :p

But still it could be an old modem maybe? Not sure, just a thought.

To access the Telkom 3G network you need to install the MobilePartner software. I am using my old vodacom dongle. Installed softeware and have never looked back.

I'm using my VC sim in my 3G router until I get my Telkom sim. But yes, they shouldn't be netowrk locked!

Its a brand new 3G dongle bought from Game..the white vodafone ones. I've tried his sim card and yes it works fine. Mine on the other hand just displays the no sim card error. driving me insane. I've loaded 1GB data bundle onto it which expires end of the month and now it cant pick up my sim. I've tried removing all instances of the software, plugging it in again re-installing.but nothing seems to work.wonder if my sim could be damaged in any way or too old. i've had it for 4years already (32k Vodacom) and have recently ported it to a contract.

I have had a problem using Mobile Partner and Vodafone Mobile connect on the Same PC. I had to un-install the vodafone software installed by a vodacom 3G dongle to get mobile connect to install properly and work with a telkom 3G modem.

Try un-installing any 3G software completely and then try plugging the dongle in and let it install its software.

You could also try it on another PC.
