Which 3G router would you guys suggest? I just got the 10gig contract.

I want to get the B660 from Telkom Direct but their service is extremely pathetic. Apparently you should go into the store each day to check if they have received stock cause they NEVER answer their phones!! Grrrrr

Do not buy routers from Telkom. They always use the cheapest nastiest most plastic crappy routers known to man.

There are plenty of decent 3G routers on Takealot or Kalahari.com.

Telkom happen to have some pretty decent routers at the moment.

Don't have the model numbers on me at the moment but they have a nice Huawei and I saw one other (can't remember the brand) when I was in the store the other day. I'll confirm when I'm at a PC again.

I bought the Telkom "Do"-branded Netgear DGN2200M 300mbps 3G fallback router and the Huawei E367 21mbps 3G modem. These two work perfectly together to serve my home with wireless 8ta internet. Just be aware that these two devices do NOT work together out of the box. Please read this thread to make it work: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/391713-Upgrading-DGN2200M-Firmware-fails

Summary of what to do is (as specified in above mentioned thread):
1. Contact HCOM to get new E367 firmware
2. Upgrade firmware of 3G moden (NOT the router firmware)
3. Et voila!

HTH

I use an IPfire firewall which supports 3G USB modems. I have it running on an ultra-compact ebox machine with a Netgear access point.

The bonus of this solution is that I can schedule the firewall to connect and disconnect when I want it to and it makes using the midnite surfer a breeze.

The other bonus is all the other features with like a squid cache and proxy as well as an update accelerator for caching windows, antivirus, linux and mac updates. I can also block P2P for unauthorised users and create proper firewall rules for security.

I have been using it for over 6 months now and had no problems.

Rather use this:

Netgear 3G Dual Wan Mobile Broadband Router with
internal 3G modem (you only require a SIM card),
4-10/100 ethernet ports and 1 wan port. 802.11n WiFi.
It has a 21 Mbps module and will work on any of the 4 Mobile
operators (MTN, Vodacom, Cell C and 8Ta)
( MBR1200-100PES )
