4 Meg ADSL - General Max Speed?

So I was a bit too hasty saying it was fixed. Seems I am throttled to 512k during the day and at night it picks up again.

The techies said this is cos in my area there are too many 4Mb lines, so they have to prioritise the businesses during office hours.

This is pretty unaccaptable if you ask me. I pay for 4Mb. The LEAST I want is a consistent 1Mb. 512 is not on...

Will investigate and report back...

SAIX cache server? due to contention you will only get 450KB/sec speeds on torrents etc where many many connections are created. Same story for download managers. On a single connection you will be lucky to get anything above 40KB/sec but that is not too bad. I'm talking international here.

Locally, its much easier - less contention. In general you should get anything between 400KB/sec and 450KB/sec for a 4096 service.

AGREED... on Torrentz i get 41kb/sec and local i get 450kb/sec

ur so lucky for that sorta speed i would do anything 4 that sorta speed whatever the torrent speed i would love to have that speed and amount everyday

i got half 50 mb file at 2mb/s in few secs on my 4 meg line

but i average 440 - 490
