4Mb line constantly losing sync..

Dropped the speed to 3Mbps but it's now losing sync quite a bit after being fine for the first 2 days.

What number do I call to have Telkom send out a techie to check everything out? 0800 375 375 or some other number?

I had the same problem and Telkom dropped my speed to 2meg, no more disconnects now.

The 4meg connection worked fine for a week or two (only occassionaly losing sync), but then it wouldn't sync at all.

Has been stable since, but i'd like to get back to a stable 4meg connection if possible.

Exact same thing happened to me. Now im stuck at 2meg and it wont sync any higher. When I phoned telkom to find out why I can only sync now at 2meg and before I was syncing at 4meg and for a pretty long time with no problems until recently the lady had no clue what I was talking about. She said I was on a 4meg line and kept asking, so whats the problem??
I explained the above to her and she said "is your browsing slow"
According to her if your line syncs and you can browse just fine alls good lol:D

I made her reset the port and that doesnt help much but when I told her to reset my profile she didnt know what I was talking about.

Now when I call again I just pray someone who actually knows something about adsl answers.

Anyone know what happened to photonman, doesnt seem to be on the forums anymore.
He increased my upstream for me a very helpful telkom dude.He could help us all out if he were around.

Oh, and would updating the firmware on my router (Mega 100WR) be worth a shot?
You can try it bro, worth a shot I reckon ;)

He left Dazzla, not the forum, but Telkom. He said he's still young and wants to do other things with his life. He turned out to be quite a cool guy it seems, I didn't give him the credit he deserved ;)

Remember that officially Telkom does not have 4 MB lines. Thats a trial, They only have 1Mb lines officially!
That "trial" ended long ago.
Its now a standard "Up to 4Mbps" service.

I was told the same thing today. "It's up to 4mbps." Oh, and apparently, *clears throat* "There's not a big difference between 1mbps and 4mbps."

ROFL, read that today in the other thread you posted.

Give or Take about 300 KB/s ;) :D :p

Update: the problem is still persisting and I lose sync more than I care to count but I did take my router into the other room and connected it to that phone jack and noticed that it stayed synced for a long time, didn't lose sync at all.

Guess I'm gonna have to tell the techie to re-do the phone jacks with new ones.

Congrats for finding the problem, at least now you know something can be done :D

Yup, the only problem now is WHEN to get the techie here because everyone in the house is at work during the week. :o

Do I still call the 375 number to get them to send a techie out?

I have no idea. They'll give you the run-around until you find someone that will request it. Just make sure you get a reference number, otherwise nothing will get done.

*mumbles* I've just recently got around to having Telkom send a techie to check the lines and my exchange. No idea which decade they'll get around around to doing it though.

I'm happy for you though - you're one step ahead of me - you know your problem :p

Go back to the room you were using early on and try again.

Reason?

I will do it but only tomorrow though.

Thanks for the headsup. If nothing gets done, I'll just physically corner a techie and pay him cash to do it. :D
