When i just upgraded my line to 4mb it downloaded at speeds over 400kb/s but recently it wont sync that high anymore. If im lucky it sync evry few days for an hour to 1024 then then later back to 640.

Any ideas?

Possible that they have been doing some building or your lines are deteriarating or something to that effect.

Did the decrease just suddenly happen, like one day you woke up and it was slow and you noticed it wasnt synching @ 4096 and instead @ 1024 or did it slowly go down from 4096?

It Just Suddenly happend and its been like this for a few months now. A while back it did go up into the 3000 but it wasnt for more than 5 mins.

Oh and 1 more thing.. I forgot about this.. Whenever i pick up the phone it makes a Scrathing Noise in the background so i think i should call telkom... Maybe thats got to do with the internet line connection..

Noise could be a number of things but quite often its rusty/dirty plug points. Pick up the phone, dont dial anything ...wiggle some of the plugs for you telephone and ADSL connection. If you hear a noisy get better or worse when touching a particular plug then remove it and clean the contacts.

I had that... Really bad

I posted about it a while back...
AFAIK, the rain has messed ur connection up. Call Telkom and tell them that, then technicians should come and fix the problem

is everyone else's uploads syncing at 640? because mine is not, you guys have any suggestion why it isnt? I do have a 4mb line though..

Well I raved phoning Telkom today cause my newly upgraded 4Meg line is only running at 512 speed (yes you guessed right, stil have the problem and they have no answers). Anyway asked about the new upload speed, the guy told me that he had no knowledge of it.

Don't you just love it when a telecoms company does not know how to communicate.

It could be crosstalk or it has to do with the distance between your place and the exchange. I haven't read all the posts, but have you tried resetting the router?

Don't wanna hi-jack this thread, but I have tried it all. Router syncs at 4Meg down and 348 up, but down and up speed still on 512 speeds. Been through the posts on this already, but no joy. Modem has had an off period for 2,5 hours (thaks to Eskom) and made no difference.
