5 gig bundle not working (ECN Capability) [solved]

you can only use a short max 8'' extention cable with a usb modem( did some homework).
Not true. I have a 1.0m extension cable that works fine with my E1820. It's not even a particularly fancy one, I think it came with a flash drive.

Well, I've walked around my room as much as I can, carrying my damn PC around and have been unable to get so much as a vague hint of a signal.

I am just in a terrible mood for various reasons, other than this but man oh man is this a ****ing disappointment so far.

Yeah man be grateful you got a prize at all!!

It's not that I am not grateful, it's that it doesn't work.

Let's be honest, CellC did not do this out of altruism, they did this for advertising purposes.

I appreciate all the hard work rpm and company put into this enterprise, I do.

But what am I meant to do in this situation? Keep my mouth shut out of politeness? That would be doing CellC a disservice as I am sure they would like as much feedback as possible in order to provide a good product.

I tried to contact a CellC store - No answer after a couple of calls.

Next, I tried phoning technical support - Half an hour is really my limit in waiting on the phone to get through though, I mean, come on.

This thread is my third attempt at finding a solution.

I am assuredly not making any sort of effort to be non-appreciative.

Get a suitable antenna and position it w.r.t. signal strength

Don't know anything about this stuff, which is why I was trying to phone CellC for assistance.

Where do I get an antenna from?

*edit*

In fact, I was asking the woman in the CellC shop about an antenna while I was RICAing the SIM and she didn't seem to have the slightest clue what I was harping on about.

That what i had to do Copa - Inside the house i couldn't even receive enough 3G signal to even get the thing to login (with the blue light(3G)) altho i could outside.
With outside antenna it fixed it all.
Throw it in a draw till you maybe get better signal or get an antenna(assuming you can confirm a blue light outside somewhere).
Invite someone over with a laptop else i have a cartoon image of Copa struggling around a house dragging a tower & monitor on the end of a 20m power extension cable looking for Cell C coverage:)

Top antenna is what your looking for + the universal connector that slides over the modem(Don't get the plug option)

U got the black modem ? Cos friend of mine had same problem.. white ones works perfectly with the same sim card.

Copa there is a shop here that specialises in antenna. lots of my clients have gone there before (mtn/vodacom) i'll get their number tomorrow & pm you.

you can then ask them if they have a branch there near you.

Tried that, no jokes, even had my PC half out of a window with no luck.

Yeah, I get a blue light with the modem outside on a long cable, problem is, as mentioned, I can only access the CellC site when it's attached to the extension.

Perhaps I am just going to have to borrow a laptop and climb into a tree to do my downloads!

Thanks. :)

ah ok.. make sense then, seems the black ones have problems.. maybe it's the amount of USB power they draw ... like I said, a chap that works with me had same problems with the black one, popped his sim into my white slow dongle.. and no problems

Edit ** Oops.. no racism amongst dongles intended .. lol

What couldn't get signal inside with black one but could with a white one?
Edit: Don't think its power tho cos i did try putting a double USB plug onto my black one to rule that out.....never made no diff

I concur with that to some extent.. but it's weird that every time I plugged my dongle into a different USB port/plug windows reinstalled the drivers.. or at least picked them up ?? strange .. and when I tried a USB extension.. i got no reception.

That's normal

Believe some are wired differant or something, have seen a mouse not work on 1 cable but work on another, what the diff is i don't know.
Dual USB connector that i tryed came from another modem (k3565) so it should have been ok.
Amount of people with signal problems on CellC/this forum lately wouldn't surprize me if there's perhap's something up with the RX side.
Doesn't seem like the signal likes going thru walls which is supposed to be a benefit of their using UTMS 900 band
Ginggs if you look in have u compared 1820 vrs the other one at all?
