Also a bit bit lost but in summary we do have 7.2 (as demonstrated by independent tests by myADSL) but we don't want to release it publicly until at least a fair amount of people can get a measurable increase in speed.

As opposed to commercially launching a service, no-one seem to be able to get. ;)

Vodacom are busy to upgrade the Aerials at Pretoruiskop in the Kruger National Park to the 3G or Better , at Friday 22 thy wil working i understand.

Willie, I hope you've already bought yourself a Hauwei E272 modem, or have a 3.6 HSDPA enabled mobile phone. :)

I wasn't sure either, but did remember that WH has been in a 3G-drought area for a while, good that it seems to be changing, I just hope that Vodacom also improves 2G coverage within KNP itself.
 
I've been happy since day one, when I dumped iBurst and opted to use my Hauwei modem for my desktop and laptop.

Gonna give my desktop to my brother and get a mean Toshiba laptop (17'' desktop replacement jobbie) ...just plug my Hauwei baby in & I'm ready to rock. :)

Love the idea of being a mobile user & dumping the non-mobile desktop pc.

mmm...might even consider an Apple iBook and wave goodbye to Windows. iBook + iPod 160GB classic is what i really want. ;)

The problem with those desktop replacement notebooks with huge screens, is that they are too bulky [IMO].

I won't be carrying it around a lot, just like the idea that I can do it....just like my E220 modem.

Already saw a very stylish leather laptop carrying bag in GQ magazine for it... ;)
 
A nice big screen is great for development work, but for being on the move and connected, a smaller screen, and therefore a smaller notebook is IMO better.

I've seen some of these gigantic new notebooks in the PC shops, and they freak me out they are so huge.

As a desktop replacement, I prefer smaller notebook + large external monitor + external keyboard & obviously a mouse.

Apologies for veering off the 7.2 topic, but it had come to an end IMO.
 
Kinda agreed with funkzar ... since activating the service, speeds seem to have tapered off slightly - or at best are the same as what I had. I will use the 3.6 for free for a few months and decide at that point - but I'm leaning towards sticking with 1.8 ...

What's the bestway to test ? Vodacom speedtest? Is there a site that I can download from and test real world downloading from an HTML site?

I'd love to see 100kb/sec + anywhere else but the speed test ;)

My highest to date was 304.something KB/s.
 
Pardon me for asking the question in this thread, but it seemed like the right place. I am new to the whole wireless thing. I have recently (last week) upgraded my E220's firmware and software with the latest versions available on VC's website. Is that enough for me to get 3.6 speeds? Someone said I must also call VC and request them to enable the SIM to 3.6.

Any advice?
