8 Shot Dead

Rosettenville is a ____________ area ?
__slowly deteriorating suburb___

Mix of residents, but the push from the CBD side is creeping further out. I stand corrected, the closer to the CBD is other nationalities.

I lived on Prairie Street when I first came to SA, around 1991. Was a nice area, made a few friends, some who still live there and complain about the conditions getting worse. Lusito Land moved away a couple of years ago, the musical fountains stopped working/no maintenance, Santarama I believe is just a shell and there was a SA Naval unit that is just rubble now.

2011 my daughter was born in South Rand Hospital (close to this incident), trips to the hospital you could spot street workers and dealers at all hours, go off the side streets and there are burnt out houses.

2007 Lucky Dube was hijacked and killed another few blocks away from the hospital.

News article on Wemmer Pan the other day also paints a grim picture, we used to go fishing there, now apparently it is so full of crap, the fish all died. Probably a few bodies there as well.

should be "do not shoot" - actual I have the same "do not push" signs on my gyrocopter's tail fins BUT for some unknown reason people still push on it?!! like WTF!:X3:
Yeah - was just joking.

Which reminds of a joke a cop told me.
Question: Why is the SAPS emblem on the doors of the police vans?
Answer: So that the cops know where the doors are. :giggle:

You have Rosettenville to thank for Nandos, and they weren’t even the best peri-peri chicken in the area.

It was a pretty decent place with great restaurants and the coolest video rental store in SA but that was very long ago.

Remembering makes me really sad.

I had forgotten about Nando's starting up on Main Street.

I worked for the Edenvale branch of South End video, they were open 24 hours a day and I started doing the night shift

Myself, looking now I see that there was one more video:

That's some heavy gunfire, according to the news article the helicopter was fired on first, seems like there was an armed officer in the helicopter shooting back too but it flies off at the end of the video - presumably because the pilot was injured during the initial exchange?

Oh My Sack!

That got me.

Rosettenville is a ____________ area ?
Rosettenville is a previously well endowed roasted chicken area. So many people talk about the roasted chickens you could get from there in the old days.

Some of the best Portuguese food still comes out of Rosettenville.
