Went to the Centurion Mall today to get a 8ta microsim for the 2GB/1GB @R149 special and was pleasantly surprised how smooth the whole procedure went.

The staff was very friendly and knew what they were doing, and when I got home and installed the sim into my phone, it was already active. All I had to do was to convert the airtime to the data special.

Speedtest.net confirms that the transfer speeds and latency blows my 4Mb ADSL line out of the water.

Well done, you guys! :)

Same here for Alberton. They even did the airtime conversion for me. Got home and surfed. Great consistent speeds.

Unfortunately I didn't have as much luck. I spent a total of 40 mins on hold and 40 mins talking to the call centre on two separate occasions to sort out the issue.

It seems that in order to have the process run as smoothly you have to use a Telkom Direct/8ta store.
 
Irene Vilage mall for those folk in Centurion, they have very good service. All and all, I am very happy with 8ta this far, keep it up guys!
