hi

I have a notebook that has a built in 3g modem. Vodacom Sim works perfect however 8ta sim is not recognised and the connection manager advises that I need to create a profile for the sim , after which it asks for the APN and username/password. The notebook is HP and it has it's own HP Connection Manager. As I said works fine with Vodacom Sim ..

any ideas.. thank in advance

Create a 8ta profile with APN=internet, and Number=*99#.

Leave username/password blank, should work.

Hi all

I have the HP Elitebook 8560p it has a built in 3g modem, I bought the 8ta 10gb contract and want to use the sim card in there but everytime i use the following settings APN=internet
number=*99#
username - blank
pasword - blank

it gives me an error "A fatal error has occurred, check the HP connection manager in event viewer for more details"

Can anyone please advise on what to do?

Thanks in advanced

Both the APN & the number you've entered without the "=" yes?
APN: internet
Number: *99#
Enter what is after the :

I dont put the "=" sign in i just put the straigh number in: *99#

yes:)
& user & password don't type in "blank" - leave it blank/empty;)

u need to bypass the hp connection manager.

create a new dial up connection call 3G.
put the phone number : *99#
no need for usename and password.

just make sure your modem is switched on using Hp connection manger.
When connection manager ask you to configure just cancel.
connect using the new dial up connection u created.

this worked for me.
