No modems will be bundled with this offer and customers will have the freedom to use existing modems or buy a modem from TDS and 8ta franchise stores. Data modems with speeds of up to 7.2Mbp/s and up to 21Mbp/s will be available in store. The device speed has an impact on the network speed experience by the subscriber.

Subscription to 8.ta services is subject to network coverage and network availability. The service is a best-effort service and no guarantees are provided on availability or throughput.

8ta shall not be held responsible for failure to access Internet at locations where 8ta does not have coverage and the service experience may change from time to time.

A subscriber has a right to subscribe to a standalone Internet 5 Promo offer at R199 and in addition subscribe to a 10GB Midnight Surfer Data bundle for an extra R100.

No Carry over shall apply to the Internet 5 Promo offer with 10GB Midnight Surfer Data bundle.

The 10GB Midnight Surfer Data Bundle can only be used to access Internet between 12am and 5am.

There is no time restriction on when the Internet 5 Promo offer can be used if the 10GB Midnight Surfer Data Bundle is not bolted on the offer or has been depleted.

A compatible device is required to use 8.ta services. The maximum speed that can be experienced by the customer is dependent on the speed specification of the device.

The Out of Bundle Rate of R 0.30 will apply

8.ta is not liable for any loss or damage to your property or equipment arising out of the provision, installation or maintenance and use of the service.

8.ta will not incur any liability whatsoever for any loss or damage as a result of any use, authorised or unauthorised, resulting from virus attacks, security vulnerabilities, loss of information.

8.ta mobile services support soft-cell handover.

Prices include VAT. Normal voice services are disabled, with the exception of emergency services (10111, 10177 and 112) and helpdesk (081 183).

SMS is enabled for normal usage, notification and balance enquiry.

Once-off Internet Data bundles will expire at the end of the next calendar month from the date of activation.

Inclusive data bundles will expire at the end of a month. RICA will apply. The service application process will only commence on the presentation of necessary supportive documentation.

Subscribers shall be migrated to any of the existing Internet Data offers at the end of the 24 month contract period.

I'd love this. But my house is not directly under the red! Now I'm cynical of coverage! Unless I can test it somehow?

SIM cards are cheap - why not get one, load a little airtime and see what happens?

I'd be testing my area right now if I could just find that damn SIM :mad:

Maybe the boffins can correct me, but surely if you do a manual network search on your handset (with any SIM) you should be able to detect the 8ta network (65502) if you are in their "pink" zone?

Detection is one thing but one needs to see the signal strength, at least how many "bars". Normal 8ta sims cannot select the 8ta network, so I'm not sure how one is going to test this.
 
Facepalm. My initial thoughts were that you could not get non-roam areas with a standard sim. If that's the case I'm buying a sim tonight and signing up on Monday!

Would definately have considered this if i was covered.
Tested with 8ta sim in phone & E1820 & E220 & laptop builtin modem (bit of overkill)
 
A Quick question to the Rep. Can multiple midnight surfer addons be added on to the core package. It seems that it is a bolt on option so I am hoping you could say add 3 of them to give you 10GB + 30GB midnight for R500.

Just thinking about this it seems pretty obvious that it should be allowed as the vast majority of people will not take the midnight data option and there is going to be bucket loads of excess capacity at this time of day.
 
Also Q to rep - Where are the full Terms & Condition's that spell out applicable charges for early termination of contract - I've gone thru all the Data terms Pdf's on 8ta.com & cannot see this mentioned in any of them
 
I just got this deal but something conerns me they mention 30c per meg out of bundle however when I signed the salesman said the 10gb is a cappd option once i hit 10gbs its locked ??

Unfortunately not. You can currently only add one Midnight Surfer Bundle to one Internet 5 Promo

There's nothing in there that states anything about early termination of contract that i can see - given that this is a 24 month contract & only "best effort service" what are the terms applicable should one wish to cancel say 6 months later?

On your site, I am in a red zone (followed link from promotion page), however, when I put my (pre-paid for testing) sim card in my phone, and force it to the 8ta network, it says "No service". Does this mean I can't use this promotion?

All prepaid 8ta SIMs are roaming.

If you want us to make it non-roaming, then forward us your 081 number and contact details to [email protected]

By making it non-roaming you will be able to test 8ta’s network on your prepaid SIM.
