Shortly after moving from MWEB to AH I get this call from AH saying that my line had been upgraded to 10Mbps and that they have automatically upgraded my line for me. I now had to upgrade my DSL acct to receive the faster speeds. So I said they could go ahead and increase the package to 10Mbps.

Thinking it was weird that there was no news of this on MB, I checked Broadbandstats.co.za to make sure it was upgraded. I was not surprised to see that the exchange was still only 4Mbps. So I contact AH and tell them this. After much frustration, someone finally confirms that the line cannot be upgraded. Let me just say that getting them to downgrade the line and package as an error on their side was a freaking joke. Months went by before I was finally credited correctly.

A few days ago, I checked broadbandstats again it this time it shows that the exchange is now supporting 10Mbps. http://goo.gl/HBRJ3p

So I log a request for AH to check on this. They come back and say, its all good and I can go ahead and upgrade the line and the package. So I do this and 4 days later I follow up on the upgrade. I'm now told that the exchange actually doesn't support 10Mbps "I must please downgrade. Thank you for your support"

WTF???

Please could anyone tell me how I can sort this out. Who should I contact? Is Broadbandstats wrong, bearing in mind that the Durbanville exchange was supposed to be upgraded 2 years ago. Surely Telkom have figured out how to slot a new board into the DSLAM by now?

An update on this is this from AH

"Good morning, I hope that you are well:)

The exchange shows that it supports 10 mbps but the port allocation could be a problem.
I have attached the test results from testing your line for the service speed.
You will see in both attachments what Temba was saying and why this is not an option on our side.
If we can get Telkom to change that we will but for the time being this does not look like we can as the line will provide more problems and breaks than anything else if we try change the service speed.

Have a great day further:)"

The tests that were attached show the line speed is not supported.

Highly recommend you remove your Telephone number from that screenshot.
Unless you want to be caller spammed?
