Now the shows I download actually are streamed on the internet as well, but I cannot view them and prefer to download it, wathc it and delete it, now what is your point exactly. The MPAA only represents Motion Picture companies in the USA, not news broadcast companies from the Phillipines! Secondly the MPAA has enforcers here, but they themselves cannot do anyhting in SA directly.

So what answers can I expect from your highly intelligent mind with regard to that.

you missed the point from the beginning, my point is that you cannot say "no P2P" on the basis that someone might download copyrighted stuff, you can only take action once this has been done.

It is a stupid argument, you understand? I dont even use P2P for much, maybe 1 show a week, but the point is I dont want WBS to tell what I can and cannot do since I am paying for the services.

in english we call that implied qualificication, you implied you dont download software which is you obviously consider as "real piracy" to qualify your sentence about how downloading copyrighted tv shows is ok if you delete it after (which it isn't)

well I can stream lots of copyrighted shows with something like http://streamtvnow.com but... its still illegal

uh actually iBurst don't say no p2p because of copyright violations they say no p2p because it chews over 70% of all the traffic and some people end up getting slow speeds on priority services like HTTP

then how about not signing up for a service that from day 1 of the soft launch was addiment that the service was for HTTP, SMTP, POP3, FTP etc and that again from day 1 said they would shape everything else to 64k prior to the launch

How you perceive my words is up to you, not neccessarily what I mean though.

You apparently are the less than bright one, the cops dont do raids here for the MPAA, its SAFACT! The cops couldnt give a ****, do you think they want to take a culprit to court and prove someones elses copyright?!?!?! With what money?

Now the shows I download are streamed by the news network themselves, it is therefore very much legal! This is why I asked "what difference does it make" we will just end up wasting time proving worthless info.

Back to business , I sat at a iBurst demo in November 2004 and I was never told that P2P would be shaped the way it is now. If it chews 70% of the network then surely the cap would bring some justice to this "imbalance" and again I state if Telkom can get it right surely WBS can. In fact the guy holding the demo showed us the Speed of I burst by downloading the World of Warcraft Intro through P2P!

Saying things like "sir you are a tard" just again prove how little you actually know about anything, as seen in your post above. You have absolutely no idea how copyrights work here in SA.

Now we have had a fight over what I told you from the start was irrelevant info, the point was the P2P service not what I download. I cannot understand why you asked the questions you did as they hold no substance to what this thread is about.

i dont think p2p is a prioty that WBS should focus on at the moment, but then I hardly use p2p and I think the whole concept is a subjective one.

well I assumed bcuz it was not a priority protocol it wouldnt be priotised... so in-effect by them not mentioning it as being a priotity protocol they were screaming rather loud that it whoud be shaped... but thats me

well the information was alot of places, I heard it from forumites, the helpdesk, the reseller who sold me the package and iBurst representitives. However since you asked 'where' I am assuming you want to know an address, well if you go to https://secure.wbs.co.za/cfusion/wbs/subscriberaccountsignup/packages.cfm (which is linked from the main iBurst menu on the iBurst site and has been since the site was up as you can see since that page still uses the old page layout)

you will see on the 3Gb package (which is the oldest package so again, it was there the whole time) and I will quote

Optimised for users using the following applications:
e-mail
Web Browsing
File Download
Streaming
VPN

The applications optimised will recieve the full access speed and will each receive relative priority over all other traffic.
All other applications will be restricted to a maximum of 64kbit burst rate

as I said thats only one source thats been around the whole time but the information was alot of other places too, also it was debated here pretty publically from before i joined the forum all the way till now.

yes... in november, I know because thats when I started asking these questions, anyway dont fret dude, I have people Pming me with all sorts of new ways to do p2p and some of them are able to beat standard packet shaping, 2 are lookign very promising and one of those two will allow a p2p community consisting of say iBurst users only, which could be cool, and could be crap.
