A father's dilemma

Is it in the best interests of the child to have the op? If so then make it happen. If I was you I'd give the doc a call myself to hear his side of the medical needs. It might be something they see very routinely that won't need a second opinion.

As to the baby mama piece, I ended up in a similar situation, and like you took responsibity etc. Best advice I could give it to suck it up and be as nice to the mom as possible. I had huge issues in the beginning, but one sided fights don't work and eventually the mom and I started getting on really well. We're good friends now and that helps so much.

While that might be true to a certain degree the student should be able to at least inform him of his rights and in doing so hopefully reduce what he then after that spends on a lawyer...

I read law myself and I just do not think it's a good idea to go to someone who is not qualified and admitted as an attorney. They *think* they know it all, but practice is more complex than a textbook.
