A huge financial setback

I do have car insurance that covers everything, unfortunately I don't think in this case they can help me. Since I wasn't the one who damaged the car, unless you guys know something I can try them.

I have service and warranty plan hence I said without, a car I will save R2100 on insurances. I already cancelled tracker today.

For me to not getting the new Honda Brio it's not like I'm drowning in debts, I only have that Capitec Bank R3540 and Edgars account R800.

Wouldn't the warranty cover repairs, or at least a part of the repairs? And as thechamp says, next time rather buy a popular car/brand, especially if you will be running it on a tight budget.

Even if you find someone affordable enough to do the repairs you are still going to struggle with parts, usually the panelbeater will scavenge scrapyards looking for body parts and that's how your car is fixed for cheaper.

Lesson here is that If your car was a popular make such as a Tazz, Yaris, Corsa or Polo etc. it was going to be a little easier and cheaper to get it fixed. Keep this in mind when deciding on the make of you next car if you decide to buy another car.

I learned my lesson I'll go with popular brands I told my colleagues today. How is Kia or Hyundai parts wise, for now I'm just taking a back seat like you said I'm must think long and hard.

I only have two debts Capitec Bank and Edgars account. I'm going to cancel the insurance and service& warranty plan going to be saving R2000. July I'm getting increase maybe after that I will try, again to apply for a finance my bank statement will have less deductions.

No you didn't learn your lesson.

What interest are you paying on your Capitec loan? If it is decent(although i highly doubt) go talk to them and see how much more they can give you. Use that R2100 to finance the loan and buy another car, a good car this time, If the interest at Capitec is high try another bank and see what you can get.

I have no idea I think the engine mounting they can fix that. Like I said I don't know much about cars, next week I'm working night shift so I will have enough time to go the dealer to hear the full story.

Can they fix the repairs that was caused by the previous owner.

Obvious the interest rates are high I think 25℅ I'm left with 2 years on that loan. The lady who was helping me to apply for finance said I can, try for a cheap car between R60 000 to R80 000.

If I do decide to buy a new second hand in the near the future, what would you suggest for a late 20s guy. Anything beside VW and Get.

Unfortunately I don't think like that, to me there isn't any reason why a car should be according to those age definitions, it makes no sense to me but I am an old fashioned type of guy as you must have picked up. I am not into little cars like Sparks, Picantos and the likes, i think they are just overpriced mediocrity. Go for a proper B segment hatch like a Yaris, i20, Mazda, Fiesta or anything like that, it looks like better value for money to me.

What I look for is parts availability, if it's only available at a dealer then it's not for me, German cars have Goldwagen and that is a huge plus, Korean cars also have Korean motor spares. Honda seem to be the only troublesome Japanese brand as all the others are okay. Whatever car you decide on do this, get a list of service parts, your wear and tear such as clutch kits, CV joints and brakes, call Midas, AutoZone and other popular spares and ask for quotes, if you can't find the parts you know you are going to struggle.

I do like Hyundai i20 and Yaris it's within my budget but most of them have high mileage. But thank you so much for the advice.

Yeah next time I should make sure I don't buy lemon. If that car wasn't involved in accident, it was a good but it taught me a lot. Buy popular brands where I'm not going to struggle, in terms of parts etc right now I'm at the mercy of the dealer.

Thread steal... Is a polo vivo a good grand to buy?
Steal is appropriate. Don't ever leave it parked outside, and put like 2 gearlocks, 3 trackers and a Rottweiler in it

Hold on. You intend on taking two years to pay off a R3450 loan, at 25% interest?
And you want to cancel the insurance on your car entirely...?

Seriously Semisane, do get a second opinion on the repairs. A running car should not cost R85k to get to another state of running. You were going to post the quote here? It's just engine mounts and some auxiliary stuff, the engine isn't actually damaged right? There must be a cheaper solution than getting into more debt over this.

The reality is that the dude is looking for an excuse to get a new car even though he seriously cannot afford it. The repairs are just his justification for doing so, thus he has precious little incentive to actually do some leg work to try and solve the problem.

Have to concur.

All points to that.

Lol not excuse to buying a new car, getting a new car wasn't in my plans for this year. I'm working night shif, so Monday I will go out look for a second opinion and what are my options.

They were honest with me they can fix the car, put the engine mountings but I should know the car is not safe. I scan the quotation and post it here later.
