A week with Apple ...

You'll get it when they release a 50W+ USB-C iPhone fast charging. Clip me.
But for what purpose? Even the normal charger is fast enough to get you ready to go in a short matter of time.

Maybe it's just the way my life is structured but I've never been in a situation where battery life has been an issue, I just charge it when it needs it and continue about my life.

That's the thing you don't get. Once you experience it, it hits you differently. It's like improving tech. Any tech. Would you be happy with the iPhone 8 camera on your iPhone 13? No. That would be so backwards. Yes the iPhone 8 camera works but that of 13 is infinitely better that you can't go back. And there is a very apparent difference between 20W and 66W.

Hell of a week, well done on surviving it, hopefully it gets better from here
I've already got a a to do list :

Tell MyBroadband to fix their app on iOS, as Android has a better experience
Tell 22Seven to fix their app on iOS, as Android has a better experience
Tell SnapSeed to fix their app on iOS, as Android has a better experience
Tell YouTube to fix their app on TVOS, as Android has a better experience

As we're all on about charging speed, it seems that Apple limits QI charging to 7.5w and you only get the 15w with Magsafe

Just like last year, Apple has seen fit to limit all iPhone 13 models to 7.5W of wireless charging if you use a Qi-enabled device and 15W if you use an Apple MagSafe charger or a third-party MagSafe charging accessory approved by the company.

It’s not more advanced tech, it’s a choose your compromises thing. Battery degradation, weight and size are all factors.

Yea maybe so, not arguing against the tech, more just the issue people take with it's lack. But maybe my day is structured differently or people don't have USB in their cars or whatever.

add google photos +drive to that list but that's more to how ios works than anything else(aggressive background app management).Apple is also very persistent and wants you to subscribe to iCloud.

I don't like that my Huawei GT has *all* notifications or *none* - but going Apple watch means 1 day battery life. I'll get a Garmin Venu 2 is due time to correct this though

Do what other Apple users do: keep a power bank in your pocket and run a charging cable to your wrist ;)

My advice to you
Use the following apps:
Mail: Spark
Web browser: Firefox

I also prefer to backup my phone to my PC every now and then over iCloud which is garbage IMO. A Google Family plan is awesome - esp for the added Google Photos storage and zero ads on YT.

Tech has improved a lot, and this battery degradation argument will fall flat on its face fast. Also fast charging phones aren't necessarily bigger in physical size and don't have smaller (mAH) batteries.

The iPhone 13 supports 20W, this is inline with the Samsung S22 that does 25W (the 45W charger makes no difference), and the Pixel 6/Pro that does 21-23W.

I think this is an issue of the environment we are in, iOS users will in SA always be a fraction of Android, so some companies seem less inclined to spend resources on iOS development. There was another SA-based app that was k@k on iOS and good on Android, which I can't remember now.
I disagree, local app developers are just trash but in my experience its the opposite
  • onedayonly is complete dogshit on android (a 30k phone will feel like 1k Alcatel)
  • bidorbuy
  • woolies dash app(but its equally trash on both platforms)
  • showmax android tv app is kak ugly and equally weird on both platforms
  • MyVodacom is just as trash as onedayonly probably the same app developer
  • Absa is also trash.

As you said it, different strokes for different folks. Just like some people would never go back to anything less than 120Hz display. I wouldn't want to go back to prehistoric charging speeds.

Will this still be your argument when Apple finally moves to a 45w charger and Samsung has a 60W charger?

@Dolby Enjoy the walled garden and a rabid user base that damages the brand even more than Samsung fan boys ever could do attacking it.

No it won’t, fast charging phones have buffer capacity and charge calibration code to hide degradation from the user. There have probably been advancements but I doubt it’s as much as you think.

I've noticed that when Apple to move to a new technology, it's because the time is right / technology has improved .

But @Nike7 like I said earlier, when I had my 40w charger back in late 2018, I was warned about the heat generated and a damaged battery in less than 2 years. But 4 years down the line, my battery has hardly degraded beyond what a 4 year iPhone would have with it's few watts.
