My local camera shop decided to show me their drool worthy A0 (841 × 1189mm) size printer today and it got me wondering what I might want to get printed - anyone have any experience printing to something that size?

I printed a few A0 flowcharts at the last Vac work I did. Pretty cool if you print a few of them and staple them together...you can easily fill a wall with a mega flowchart.
That was colour...but not photo quality...which I assume this photo shop thing is.

Easiest way to picture the size of A0 is to relate it back to something you know...
Picture A4, we all know how big that is
Double the size and you have A3
Double the size again and you have A2 (2x A3 / 4x A4)
Surprise surprise, if you double it again, you have A1
Again and you have A0 (Basically, 16x A4)
A0 is used mostly for mapping, geographical especially. Engineers and architects also use it often for plans where they want to depict all angles of a large assembly or structure at once, mostly for display purposes.
I recently started the hobby of editing together wedding pictures of friends in a portrait style and having it printed in large format, typically A1. Surprisingly, full colour high res A1 prints are not that expensive, although I have some decent contacts (Not retail). It's the framing with non reflective glass that adds the big cost

I was surprised that it was so much cheaper than I thought it would be - r250 for A0 and irc r195 for A1 (roughly double that for canvas) - problem is finding a pic that I want blown up to that extentSurprisingly, full colour high res A1 prints are not that expensive, although I have some decent contacts (Not retail). 2nd or 3rd pic...both awesome. 1st one not so much....lacks spectacularness.

I have an HP 500 Designjet A0 plotter standing next to me. Mostly just for engineering drawings. i.e. lines - as opposed to photos.
A0 is alot big. It usually takes me a few hours to plot a stack of line drawings to be issued.
It would be cool to get an A0 sized photo though ...
I'm going to get an A1 first and see how that turns out - I couldnt get over the size of the printer - its wider than my dining room table
EDIT checking on those A0 dimensions I might just get a life size photo of the kids done for the missus

That's just way too much handsomeness to be printing at those dimensions.
