Wakked choiceless after they canned the sci-fi channel. Can’t afford +/- R500 for F1 and just got too see the race now after watching that A1 GP on Sunday staying up hoping they would show the F1 at 12:30am.

Well I nearly fell asleep through the A1. What is all the excitement about? I was thinking how stupid it was that the one guy didn’t pit until I realized the pit lane is actually closed except for certain times! How doff is that? There is no strategy in that race! It's totally boring by comparison!

You cannot compare the two. What is the big deal with A1? It’s total cr@p!!
Yet SABC advertise it like it’s the best thing since sliced bread!

Well that first F1 race was so good! Not just the prangs etc. Far better than those stupid A1 cars all following eachother 10 meters apart and pass with “power boost” – I mean, wot cr@p – power boost – like night rider – if you can’t pass the guy you’re an idiot for heavens sake!

Just those singing F1 engines give me my adrenaline rush for the week sitting on my sofa.:D

I personally prefer A1 over F1. I suppose, as a South African, I cannot relate to anything about F1...ie: why must I support foreign drivers in foreign cars (A reason I dont support overseas soccer). In F1, the teams that have the most money always win (too predictable) - Anyone would have guessed that Hamilton would win this weekend....or Schumacher in previous years.....boring as hell!

A1 on the other hand is very new but it has the makings of a fantastic formula. I can support my country - South Africa. No team has a financial edge over the other as the cars are identical and individual setup, driver ability and team stratergy are key. You get 2 races on race day! Usually there are different winners......even Ireland got their first win this weekend. I enjoy the pit rules....because of the close racing, places can change significantly on a good stop. See Netherlands and Ireland, leaped two places on a good stop.

Admittedly the engines are a little slow....****but that all changes next year as Farrari are contracted to supply engines to all the cars for the next few years (10 I think)****

I suppose its everyone to their own....MINE IS WITHOUT DOUBT A1.

I enjoy both...

They're VERY different types of racing. F1 is about the whole package whereas A1 is more about the drivers.

I also prefer A1 over F1,everyone has the same car etc and theres less politics involved.

I like both of them. A1 I feel is still "pure" racing, IMO. Same everything, and leave everything else to the drivers. I like the power boost thing as well, the driver has to think when to use their alloted number of boosts.

F1, is like a grand show. You get the racing and all the other bits like glamour thrown in. And if you can't associate with the driver's nationality, you could always support the team of the car YOU drive.

South African touring cars beats A1 - at least those guys can drive properly.

Nope, that statement is false. Honda is the team with the biggest budget, and if memory serves me well, they only scored 6 points last year.

The reason I supported Schumi all those years is because of his ability to race in the rain. Its not an easy job racing in the rain, especially with a rear weal drive car with that much power.

Schuey, YOU ROCK!!

And his ability to ALWAYS keep the clutch in!

I personally don't enjoy A1...too boring. I like the fact that F1 has all the big names, its makes it interesting to see how much they can develop their cars. BTW, Hamilton sucks.
