Then the bank would need to prove that to the ombud.
Yep, thats the little guys big hammer.

Yes? I have a daily and monthly limit on my FNB cc. Why would you not want that control? If I know I’m going to do a big transaction then I change it temporarily.
Please show a screenshot of these settings that apply to swipes.
Those limits apply to internet banking and the account itself...not the CC swipe.
There are 2 sections in the website. One for online settings and then another one for cards.
Go to cards and you can manage the daily limits there - it’s one limit across cheque and cc
Ps. I’ve definitely done it under “my cards” before but can’t send you screenshot because my cheque card is being replaced and haven’t activated the new one yet so can’t manage it yet
Yes but a Cheque Card is not a Credit Card.
The option is indeed available to Cheque Cards as that's your money and not the bank's.
You did say CC in your post, which is why I questioned it.
There used to be 2 places to maintain each card but then FNB combined it and made it one card limit across both cards. I remember reading it at the time when it changed.
I’ll try and find confirmation of it online somewhere.
Correction, one daily and one monthly POS limit across both cards
I've never seen them and I don't see them now.
Not as it pertains to swipes.
And when I needed to make a rather last transaction with a swipe I called them up and they told me there is no limit to be concerned over so long as I don't breach my own credit limit of course.
Okay when I get my new cheque card I’ll look for it. It was under my cards - go to cheque - manage.

Ps. I just confirmed it with my premier banker too. It’s one card limit controlled over cheque + credit card together. Go to My Cards, Manage and update limits.
Different to the online banking daily limits
Yeah I just checked and see nothing.
But I am on a Fusion account which is a little eccentric so if it's missing there doesn't mean it's not there for others.
But like I said if you only have a Cheque then it would make sense that it would exist as that's your money and they need to offer a protection mechanism for it.
Not that I recall ever seeing it when I had both a Cheque and CC.
Okay - not sure what more to say - just that I know I have definitely controlled mine there in the past. I even forgot about it and then went over one day and had to quickly open app and change it at the cashier to allow payment.
But as you say, maybe Fusion is special..
Not trying to argue with you to be difficult - just that I know my own experience here.
On another note - what is it with premier bankers trying to sell you products at the end of every chat! View attachment 528001
Cant find anything under my credit card options and don't have a card linked to my cheque account:

Okay for the first time it seems FNB has gone full retard and removed **** from Internet Banking to plonk it on the Mobile App instead.
And there I do indeed find a Daily POS and Monthly POS limit.
Including international ones.
**** adding screenshot.

Was a Payfast, 2 x Foschini Group payments and Airtime from Cell C all transactions in Capetown and she lives 1800km's away.

I am abit worried with the story.
The bank cannot just decline to payout without a valid reason as we have public and private liabilities linked to transactional fraud. My point is, the fraud that went off as a base. You stated the CC has a limit of R25k, but more than R40k went off the card? Thats not possible. Unless its two cards. Next. Did she file an affirdavit? Your mom reported it, but you actually need to fill out a form (essentially an affirdavit) for the transactions dates. You then have (i stand corrected) but I remember 21 Business days for investigation.
From an investigation perspective it becomes difficult at times, if it was via pin and code verification. Now you need to prove further whether these transactions are out of normal behaviour.
bank cant just decline a fraud claim. Its a process. Get the decline report and take it further. Request your statements on the card to ensure the transaction have indeed cleared, and request a report as to how R40+ cleared on a R25k limit?
