ABSA experiencing online banking problems again

Not much working this week at ABSA. Is there SA Rugby team selection this week at ABSA.gov?

Get another bank!
Indeed...

Seems ABSA has taken Virgin Money down with them:
Internal Server Error

There is only 2 or 3 people left to look after the system now.... poor buggers

EDIT: 2 or 3 people that know what they are doing and are supporting both Internet Banking and ABSA Online. From a team of more than 20 at the start of the year. From the developer teams that is.

I can just imagine the Sev 1 meetings taking place with 20 managers taking it out on those 2 juniors that are left

looks like the site is back up if im not mistaken? i can login with no problem. Is the problem on the new portal or the old one? or both?

See, ABSA.. This is what happens if you fire half your IT staff..
Everything goes up in flames... those servers cannot maintain them selves...

I think the problem is most managers don't actually see what the IT staff are doing.

I know cause my boss is the same.

best way to stress test it hey!

I bet this is some oke under threat of retrenchment's revenge...

This has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the retrenchment letters sent to IT staff...
But then again, who knows for sure...
Just a coincidence...

Actually it is not really ABSA but barclays forcing the people cuts down on ABSA. And of course Maria Ramos, we don't want forget what she did at transnet.

I was also in a meeting where Matt Sinclaire was very vocal about pushing the barclays way of doing things down on ABSA, and with that I mean the drive to cut down on staff. They want to push their systems into ABSA and force ABSA to work in the same way UK companies work, regardless of the fact that legislation in this country is very different.

So many people worked very hard to get ABSA online out there and we are all now embarrassed to have our names associated with the bank....

Yes it is true that Barclays is asking for "cost-cuts". The fact that these cuts are staff... and the brutal and unethical ways used for this, I lay squarely before Maria Ramos. Like you said... remember her reign at Transnet.

Absa was once a prefered company to work for...

Since their internet banking is today again down... I'm also taking my banking elsewhere.
