Absa has launched its new logo

Why are people going on about "capitalising"? It's a neat logo actually. Looks beautiful on a white background.
 
I really love how they are being trolled on twitter. It's a joy to behold. In the beginning, they tried to respond to some of the tweets; after a while they probably just gave up.

Err... come on man it's bloody awful. Looks like some garbage generated using a free Play Store app. Or like a regulatory sticker for alcoholic beverages or airbags or something.

As far as logo's go it's not that bad

It just doesn't fit as a bank's logo though, imo

I look at it and think "What car is made by those guys?"

Looks more like a spark plug company logo. Or some kind of over the counter nasal spray.

This logo shows the evolution of absa. Once they were ABSA (Amalgamated Banks of South Africa), then they became simply Absa, which was no longer an acronym, and now, they're just absa. Decapitalising names is a phenomenon (and not just a trend) of the digital age.

Their logo is in the form of a steering wheel. "Let absa help you to steer your finances." It's non-threatening. They're a no-nonsense, no-frills bank for the man in the street and don't claim to be an elite institution for "those people" (as in, "who are those people" who bank with Nedbank).

On a related note, FNB's logo seems to have remained essentially the same for decades now.

Then why is there so much nonsense and so many frills with everything they do?

There's no getting around the fact that it looks like a $20 logo from Theme Forest.

FNB has a great logo and innovates in ways that are actually relevant to their customers.

The logo shows they spent a fortune on something that looks cr@psa.
 
Apparently that Pink background has been rolled out to Absa desktops too.
