ABSA vs. FNB

You should have a look at RMB Private Bank, apparently its better than Investec.

Doubt it goes that far, but it has slightly stricter requirements than Investec...

and also no banking fees whatsoever....

Isnt that the same as FNB Private Bank - I have never had such shocking service in my life.

Are you thinking of FNB Private Clients? They're separate, and aimed more at high-income retail customers.

I think thats them, email addresses are [email protected]

They put FNB to shame, and are my reason for moving, I eventually told them to go learn customer service skills from FNB Premier Bankers.

xrapidx : certain fees, yes... sorry.... but things like saswitch fees etc etc are gone from what I know...

and alf101 : yeah, if you have to ask, i'm also guessing you don't qualify :D

I think its more like the Flat Fee's that ABSA and FNB offer, you pay a monthly subscription of xx, and then all in-house transactions are free, you only pay for odd things, like drawing from a non-(ABSA/FNB) ATM, counter transactions, etc.

From what I remember, its a flat fee... and thats pretty much it for almost everything really. I shall have to get finer details when I start working there in 2 weeks :)

Find out the minimum requirements to :P Can't find out what they are on the website.

P.S. What you doing there?

Doing IT stuff..

The minimum requirements are pretty strict, think they're stricter than Investec but I shall find out for you.

Thanks... Some of the banks start off at R500,000, the most I've seen was Investic at R1,000,000

Off the top of my head RMB PB are like R100kpm plus a certain amount of assets... but i will find out for you and let you know.

Those figures I've given could be horribly wrong, but I will find out for definite soon.

I also move from ABSA to FNB about 2 years ago because of the bank charges. I applied for an account online. My local branch contacted me a day later and I made an appointment to come and collect my card and produce the relevant documentation according to my application. When I got there I didn't have to stand in any queues and was sorted in under 10 minutes.

Making this exact same move 1 month ago and still unable to get fking FNB internet banking to work: Frustrating

But yes, ABSA lost my business too... :D

Mine worked immediately  Did you ask the consultant to make sure that it's working before leaving?

But yeah I also changed a few years back - ABSA to FNB as well. R66pm banking fee is madness

Had this problem recently with FNB. Apparently the system was changed and even the branch you register your account with doesn't have permission to activate your internet banking. Basically they referred me to validations department - you can get their number by calling FNB. Or they can put in a request at the branch. You need to go into the branch though to get things done as I experienced. Just doesn't work over the phone. They need identification.

I didn't activate internet banking at the branch. I applied online and got limited access immediately. The next day I got a call from the verifications department to confirm that I had activated internet banking, then I had full access. I didn't have to go back to the branch at all. I don't know if the process has changed now.

The NCA or Fica would have screwed that up.

That would be FICA. In general NCA = good and FICA = bad. The one nice thing about FICA is that it makes it easier for you to fool the authorities if you are a terrorist.
