Err.. that is if you really think that the color of your card determine your social status
I have been eligible for a Gold card the day I opened my account. The people at the branch were sleeping

Of course trying to market it as a social upgrade 3 years after they made a mistake just doesn't sit right with me. In fact, using cards as a status symbol is nasty.
Frankly, I think there should be a law against coloring cards according to income. Why? It motivates people to keep going to the bank for new colored cards and in turn gives the bank the excuse to up your credit limit. Which is a problem that the NCA was suppose to solve, by limiting automatic increases.
Mark my words - banks are going to release more "special edition" credit cards, more colors, more cartoon characters, more everything in the coming years to get people to enter the bank.
It is a nasty problem, because the people who fall for such idiotic tricks are exactly the people who couldn't manage their debt in the first place.
