Wow what a player

Nope, you need to run the YAMJ GUI on your computer and direct it towards your movie folder on the PlayonHD. It then generates the thumbnails, movie info (when you click on the thumbnail) etc for your PlayonHD. It does make the odd mistake if you have more than one movie with the same name but this can be overcome. You can also choose the image it uses if you are not happy.

This result is due more to YAMJ than the media player itself.

Yip, Esquire are sole importers at the moment. If a reseller buys it from them they are obviously going to put a mark up on it.

I've been reading through the forums tonight. Apparently when you install a drive, you have to format it from the Playon as well? Is this optional or won't it work otherwise? Don't have drive space to make backups and format...

Also got my Playon HD today. This is my first standalone media player, I've always used a HTPC with either XBMC, MediaPortal etc. I'm still playing around with settings, will try out other firmware tomorrow. So far...

The good:
Plays everything I've tried so far perfectly.
Compared to my htpc, this is super quiet.
Very nice compact design.

The bad:
The default gui is not as good looking as something as XBMC or MediaPortal, but I've yet to try different firmware / jukebox view etc.
I connected a 1TB drive inside the Playon and the first time I tried to access it, it wanted to format it? I switched off and on and it was fine.
The video setup is a bit confusing. You select let's say 720P, but then the screen size (resolution) is something completely different. And if you change the size with the red borders showing, it doesn't fit the tv area properly.

Haven't tried it yet. I'm sure it will work, unless you're streaming through wifi.

Are there any firmware updates or apps to modify the tv series layout? Kinda like an episode guide that keeps track of what you've watched.

I have connected the POHD to my laptop. The unit is recognised and picks up the internal HDD as 'partition1'

However I cannot copy files to it or delete files from it. I get the following error message:

"error cannot copy file or folder. cannot create or replace file1.avi. Cannot find the specified file."

I have a 500Gb Hitachi HDD installed in the POHD. When I started it up, I had the hdd formatted by the player and then copied files from my external hdd to it using the 'copy files' function.

Any one else have the same problem?

If that's the case, then it really sucks. Most people don't have extra TB drives to make backups on before formatting.
