I need information related to accessing MTN 5G, info which is probably available on WWW and MTN website:

I am currently on MTN's Ruby 70GB month-to-month. I upgraded my phone to a 5G-capable model. Based on online research, it appears I won't simply be able to access MTN's 5G network when I move my current LTE SIM into the new 5G-capable phone? Thank you.

If you are in a 5G coverage area it should work automatically

My device requires me to turn power saving off to get 5G, newer models should have that automatically when stepping into a dedicated 5G zone.

Thank you. However, according to https://www.mtn.co.za/home/help/content/experience-5g:

"Even if you are in an area with 5G coverage, you need a 5G-enabled device or router on a qualifying price plan to access the 5G network."

I will test this on my new Samsung A25 phone...

All price plans including prepaid support 5G. If it doesn’t auto provision, worst case you will have to phone or message customer care to activate it manually - this was my experience with Vodacom and not with MTN, on MTN it worked straight away

Used an iPhone 14 with an MTN eSIM on 5G. Worked immediately and amazingly fast speeds

The lady at MTN Kenilworth Centre got it working in 15 mins

I tested using SpeedTest: with my old LTE phone I normally got around 40Mbits. With the new 5G phone in an area with 5G coverage, I got around 160Mbps. So all good!
