I'm looking for Active HDMI to D-Sub (15 Pin VGA) Cables.
Our offices have older LCD screens that only have D-SUB, and the new all-in-one Acer PCs only have HDMI Out. No D-SUB or DVI.
Apparently it has to be an Active HDMI to D-SUB Cable in order to work.

Anyone know of any SA online shops that have some that don't cost R800.
Already browsed a couple, and bid or buy, etc. But I am trying to see if there aren't cheaper alternatives.
Otherwise we'll have to buy cheaper HDMI Monitors.

Thanks in advance

Please do let me know about you experience with it.
I see that it has USB for power, so that should be making it active as well? Correct?
I might be wrong on this, but HDMI is digital and D-dub is analog. Keeping that in mind: the digital HDMI signal needs to be converted to an analog form, and for that to happen external power is needed to power the circuitry that does the conversion.

The point I'm trying to make is all HDM- -> D-SUB are active, simply because it needs do do work to convert the signal.

Yes, there is a USB port for power.
I see the other product provided Jab up above has external power input, but it is just 5V, which is the same power level as USB.
So in theory, it should do the same job? Is what my instincts are telling me.

I may have read this wrong, long day - but would something like this work for you?

http://www.sonicinformed.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=921_923_995&products_id=12665

I think we pay about +-R50 per cable.
Thanks,

EDIT read that you need HDMI > DVI , not HDMI > D-Sub - ignore my post :D
EDIT - also perhaps try giving sonicinformed a call - they stock lots of cable. ALSO - http://www.pricecheck.co.za/search/?search=HDMI+to+VGA+cable

Some cables listed there for R100+-

The Networking Warehouse in Midrand sells active converters for R240

I've ordered one, so let me know if you want to wait for feedback on whether mine works before you buy.

Ordered 4 of them. Pity is that there were 4 in stock yesterday when you told me about it, but now they're sold out :-(
So have to wait 2 weeks now.
Anyways, still the best priced one I could find, so thanks a million for the recommendation.
