The real reason not to do drugs is because...

not the degrading of health
not the expenses of money
not the ****ed up **** it puts you through

the real reason is because nothing can compare to the high you get

after doing drugs nothing will ever make you feel that good. Your life will be dull forever.

Yeah you can go skydiving
yeah you can **** the hottest bitch you know

but in the back your mind you'll be going, ehhh you know what would make this better? if I was on x drug.

that's the real reason.

speed at 300 km/h
get pumped at the gym
take half a jar of viagra and **** the **** out of the hottest girl you love.

it wont compare. not even close

that's the real reason

is that once you quit, you are disatisfied with life.

WTF are you talking about? Life isn't about getting high. The problem with coming off drugs is dealing with your issues. When you're high - no issues. When you come off drugs your confidence goes for a ball of ***** and you feel paranoid and your coping mechanisms aren't very strong. For someone who already had confidence problems it's just that much worse. Which is how addiction sets in.

Anyway, as a sometimes drug user, I can't say I'm all that attached to any high. I do drugs because it feels good and it's usually fun, but it honestly doesn't cause any dissatisfaction with the real world, beyond the first couple of days of coming down.

And as if to prove my own point here I am at 2 in the morning in the cold light of reality feeling like I just shot a huge hole through my life.

Two weeks ago I felt bullet proof. No drink or drugs for months, then for no good reason I'm on a bender.

Maybe there are people who can use occasionally, enjoy and carry on and function no problem. But, the way I feel right now that's not me. There's just no ****ing way I can deal with work tomorrow. So there goes another day. Gonna take it though 'cos if I try and deal with the world I'm going to end up in a pub. Ya know? Just to take the edge off. Yeah, right. That always works out exactly the way I plan it.

I really hate those ex addicts or people close to addicts who go on a crusade claiming that drugs WILL fcck up your life, but the way I feel now I just don't see the upside to drugs. They take you up a little then drop you in a ffcking ditch.

Far be it from me to tell anyone what to do, but my advice : don't do drugs kids. It really isn't worth it.

Ranty, rant, rant.

you honestly sound like someone who has never done drugs...ever.

I have almost all but stopped drugs because of the following reasons:
1. my drug of choice is no longer available in any kind of decent strength
2. I feel like garbage the next day, and it takes more than a day to recover now.

I have had some extremely good highs. And i have had moments off drugs which are awesome. They are different kinds of moments and cannot really be compared.

I go through something similar to you I think. I used to have really good times on drugs..(i dont know if thats just my memory skewing the fact, or if they were really all good times), but lately they havent been worth it.
I lose a weekend if I do them, and it can take over a week for my emotions, thoughts and body to get to some kind of normal state.

The sneaky bugger is alcohol. If i dont drink, there really is no chance I will take any other narcotics. But once i get some beer in me, there is that stupid thought that pops up that reckons "yeah, its gonna be awesome this time, lets do it".
Strangely, the last few times i have picked up, i get a buyers remorse almost immediately afterwards. But, i still go and take anyways...because, i am sure that its going to be awesome..

I wouldnt say dont do drugs to everyone. I think for certain people its a worthwhile experience, and i have definitely had some great times. But some people just arent made in a way that drugs will do anything but bad things for them.

At the moment I am clean, and even though I have triggers, i manage to find something else to fill my time. I still think about it, but eventually i get tired, go to sleep and wake up happy that I dont feel like garbage

:( sorry but why if i may ask?

Everyone has their fix and in my opinion alcohol is far worse than smoking, not in terms of health duh but in terms of public safety. People lose their minds when they drunk... its good though no lies but still. Personally if you where to take cannibis and extract the THC into a syrup and make that your drink, you will get intoxicated but there will be no violence like with alcohol, everyone be chilled.

It makes everyone and everything around you smell bad and just stains everything, it's just horrible.

One can be a social drinker (a few glasses per week) without harm.

Smoking, however, causes lung disease, cancer, it makes you smell, it makes your clothes smell, cigarette ash all over the place .... eww eww eww !

Guy over the road is 52 and looks like 82. Smoked 60 a day from 15 years to 50 years. Wheezes so loud with emphysema that I can hear him across the road. Was boarded from Council at age 49. Just sits in his chair staring out the window. Walls, ceiling all yellow with smoke, window glass looks like it was never cleaned.

Those are just flithy people lol. I never smell bad I got good cologne :D and I smoke a brand that doesnt stink too much. I use a targuard to prevent yellow staining as well. You never smoke in a closed area always outside :/ or if you got the smoking section to yourself in a restuarant, never sit on a packed smoking section.

As for social drinkers... whats the point? a few drinks and the only thing going to happen is you going to jail for failing a breathalyzer test. Alcohol has 7 kilocalories per gram and 0 nutritional value and its expensive :O and makes you fat :p

You don't need to justify your smoking to anyone. It's your choice, as long as you are prepared to live with the consequences.

I'm just not sure why you felt a need to contribute this on a thread specifically created for people struggling with an addiction or for people giving advice for those struggling with addictions. It's like going to a thread specifically for discussing vegetarianism and stating you love eating meat and aren't going to stop. It contributes nothing and is provocative. Either it's a blatant attempt at trolling or you are just very immature or maybe just young. I'll go with young since you obviously haven't been smoking long enough to have felt the negative consequences of smoking yet. Either way, your comment is inappropriate on this thread. Feel free to start your own thread on the joys of smoking or join one of the many forums dedicated to smoking. This thread is for people struggling with addiction or for giving advice about beating or dealing with addiction.

If smoking is not a filthy habit then why do you need good cologne, stain removers and restricting it to outside? All that is just to cover the filth. It's like saying that rolling around in pig sht is not filthy so long as you cover the smell with cologne, clean your hands after and make sure you only do it outdoors! You also don't get a brand that doesn't stink, they all stink. More likely you have lost much of your sense of smell, one of the many consequences of smoking. When I gave up 5 years ago I was amazed at how many different scents I was suddenly aware of which I just didn't perceive as a smoker

I always find it ironic when smokers tell me that "all the (e.g. indian) food tastes the same" :p They can probably only feel the spices burning, no smell i.e. no taste :D

Also, when a person douses themselves with cologne, I want to light a match and see them go woof. You smell like crap if you try to cover the crappy smell of smoke. It's crap either way.
