Using with someone you know is an addict is a pretty bad idea, especially if you want to help her. No addict is gonna take someone seriously if they know they use too. ESPECIALLY if that addict is in denial about their addiction (or even the degree of their addiction). By using with her, you are enabling her.

It takes a helluva lot longer than a few days to start thinking even remotely 'cleanly'. In fact, it was my experience that my resolve was weakest and my justifications to keep using were in total and complete over drive in the first few week while I tried to clean up.

Good advice bud, two weeks and and the worst has been 4 grams of coke between 4 peeps. progress. My only issue and i have no idea how to address that she thinks i am not doing it anymore because i think she has a huge problem. Now she is accusing me of this and that and telling her mom i am lying about this and that. Basically demonizing me like i am the bad guy which i expected but i am struggling to handle it.

I am at the point of telling telling her to fk right off but to be honest i am in love with the clean girl but that point is coming when i gotta give in :(. help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know she is keen for me as well but the defensive behavior is an issue.

WTf is copa

Its great (if thats the correct term) to read everyone's takes on the various drugs we keep ourselves busy with and how we fight to rid ourselves of them.

For me, not so hectic as lot of other comments on here, but, quitting smoking recently.
Have been smoking for the last 12 odd years...a pack a day...also diagnosed with high blood pressure some years ago and put on meds. Regular warnings from doctors to quit the smoking as it has a detrimental effect on the BP. Still, I kept at it.

I think the saving grace came recently when I started to feel physically sick every time I lit up. Although I have been smoking for years, recently it was like I was smoking my first cigarette again every time I lit one....that sick nauseous headrush with your heart racing that made you think "why would anyone do this?!?!?!?", like when you had that first cigarette of your life ever...every time. It was strange but it also pushed me to smoke less and less, as I knew before lighting up that the ciggie was gonna make me feel like sh**. So smoked less and less I did, until shortly after I was not smoking at all, or had no desire to.

However, I did (and still do) get cravings. I'm still new to this thing, just under two weeks in on zero smokes...greenhorn, I know...but the bonus is that I know having that smoke will make me feel like crap, which helps suppress the desire to smoke again.

My wife still smokes though. She offers me a ciggie regularly, but it's empowering to be able to say "no" and mean it.

I did the math recently:
Both my wife and I smoked. A pack each a day. So take that average of, say, R35 a day per pack per person over a month (30 days); monthly it adds up to R2100. For a year, that adds up to over R24K between the two of us!!!!!!! Up in smoke, so to speak....

Don't lend them anything at all.
Dont let them inside your house, if you do, make sure any valuables are out of sight.
Dont for one second believe any story they might tell you, Ever. It will all be BS
OK, so thats protecting you, sadly, its the same as any kind of addiction.
If they are just getting into it, i think you might have a chance of having a serious chat and saying whats on your mind. Dont be aggressive or have an accusational tone when doing it.
Possibly try find the reason behind the usage, is it recreational thats gone to far? Have they had any other kinds of drug exposure?

Good for you man!! I've been lucky enough to never have really smoked. Probably had 5 cigarettes my entire life, so I dont know how hard it is, but i have certainly heard about it! Its good to focus on goals like health and money when trying to quit, it gives you a reason to keep yourself from going back to smoking!
Only advice I have is avoid alcohol for a few weeks if you can. Its honestly the worst gateway drug on the planet, and is the cause of many a relapse.

3 months down! yes man

That's cool ... then the worst is over.
It's my 3rd day. If there were any full ash trays around, I swear I would have smoked all the stompies until my lips burned.
I'm dying for a smoke :crying:

I'd quite smoking on and off for up to a year at a time and then one hectic jol night and I was always back in it. I decided to stop smoking 2 years ago but I never wanted to start again so I researched all the methods to stop.

The one that worked for me was Alan Carr, the course, not the book. 2 years ago, cold turkey and not so much as a thought of starting again. (And I've been through some shyte in that time....)

R350 if you are on Discovery. For me, it worked.

Just past the 6 month mark!!!

Im quite happy i can be clean for this long without any issues.
I do know in a few weeks i am likely to break this for a special celebratory reason. But the fact that these sessions are becoming further and further apart makes me quite happy!

Alcohol, a tranquilizer, and a sleeping tablet.

This is just a note, lest my posts get a bit odd.
