ADSL = 90% illegal content!

...30 GB would not fit for me either....!!!
I installed the BWmeter around midnight (ok - so I've got no life) and started it running. I had various files queued throughout the day and just let them potter away in the backgound. Tonight when I had a look at the traffic there was a total of just under 3gb, the vast majority of which of course is downloading (in respect of this thread I should point out that it was 90% legal content:)).

I know people are saying Oh UUNet is slow blah blah blah but hey - you do the math. On top of the downloading, and on other machines not covered by the BW meter, I've been skyping like mad and my wife's been video conferencing with her SA expat friends in London.

I think I like UUnet - but I'm fickle so who knows.

I am very happy with UUNET too, some hickups here and there, but in general it works fine with no cap and about 25 kbs on p2p. And... I am with a reliable company.
After all everything is better then Telkom...*ggg*

dude p2p is not getting and giving i have edonkey i give myself 60 kbs and give 1 kbps thats nothing to give

then you are a leecher and because of people like you, p2p networks going to be destroyed...

poor service

i had the same problem, then i went to the telkom shop and started shooting my mouth of and what do you know, the next day it was installed!!!

im not a leecher i live in a country where bandwidth is expensive and hard to come by so im not a leecher by nature but because im forced to be.

Reviving this thread a little. I got some interesting results today from IBM and their WebFountain project.

30% of the internet is porn. Amazingly not 90%.

30% of the internet is duplicated. No wonder some of it seems so familiar at times.

50 000 000 web pages are updated daily. Told ya I've been busy.

65% of the internet is in English. Wow that means 35% of the internet I won't understand.

I was actually wondering the same thing, the bitorrent kiddies ruined uudsl, torrents do have the very rare chance of actually being legal software (linux ISO's etc) but the rest of the time its warez.

I wouldnt be phased if they blocked it all together. but thats just my opinion :)

Topic point. 15GB is not enough. I do most of my business through chat, cams and VoIP are part of that. Sooo, excluding my so-called illegal or 'morally' wrong activities. 8 hrs a day using VoIP (not too bad a bandwidth hog) and webcams both ways, 1 gig per day and thats without doing the web-browsing and emailing that Telkom insists ADSL is for or P2P or FTP or pr0n or radio or movies or warez or, or.. whatever people generally wish to do with that for which they are paying.

About illegal content, illegal is illegal in the eyes of the law of the country in which you reside or of which your country is a signatory on some international laws. Illegal is "not" the same illegal as in the eyes of a local pastor, a self-righteous citizen, government official or anyone for that matter who believes 'x' should be illegal because it is wrong in their eyes, their traditions or their beliefs. It is MY connection, I pay for it and it has MY morals (or lack thereof). If I break the law I should be spanked very hard by the law enforcers and I expect it, I don't however need to be told what I can and can't look at by a ISP who I pay for a Internet Service, I don't pay them to be my net-nanny, I am a big boy and I can make my own mistakes thank you very much and I will pay the consequences for my actions. Thats part of the responsibility of freedom.
