Hi guys,

I'm considering changing my current LTE package with Telkom to go the ADSL route. This is purely because of the amount of Data I can get compared to what I have now as I don't have uncapped LTE.

My question is...

Looking at the Fair Usage Policy on Telkom's website for ADSL, I have noticed that at 50% of your Threshold (around 250gb on a 10mbps line) you will be throttled from 7PM - 9PM. This is where most of my usage should come from, which will not be ideal for high speed surfing and online gaming.

I have also noticed that for a bit less one can get a Capped Package for 300gb per month. Is it not then better to take the capped package as you would not be throttled at all? You effectively get more data (if you look at the total threshold of 250gb and coming close to this will leave your Internet speed useless for most of the day) and you will not be throttled at all?

Thoughts on this?

If this has been resolved previously, please provide me with a link. I tried looking for this but could not find anything.

These days I'd say you're better off with multiple capped accounts. Choose your ISPs wisely.

Unless things have changed you should easily do 400GB/mth on Telkom 10MB Uncapped between 07:00 and midnight, 00:00 - 07:00 is unlimited and doesn't count toward your cap.
