ADSL D-Day

I think he means that maybe you aren't connected to the DSLAM at your exchange. Hope you took his name and number, and if nothing happens then keep pestering him (no point phoning Telkom helpdesk - you'll get faster results if you nag one guy constantly). Hope you get it sorted out tomorrow!

Well at least you got some kind of response.

I was also supposed to have my line done today. NOTHING.

Tomorrow they will be getting a very polite phonecall from me.

me too, today was my install day, and nada as well..
phoned at 4 and they promised they will try send someone immediately or in the morning

so shall see !

To those that should have been installed today try this, dsl username : guest1@telkomadsl password : guest1

If you sync and can access the Telkom website then y wait for the Techie. If the techie was meant to come today that means ur line is finished at the exchange.

Enjoy

Well, i bet they forgot to check whether there were enough lines on your street box, thats exactly what happened to me. Don't be too upset, you're in a far better position than most at this stage.
Telkom are so far exceeding expectations as far as your installation is concerned, break out the champagne.

I got my ADSL installed 1 week after I ordered. I ordered online, dunno if that makes a diff? Techie was on time and very friendly. and no I dont have his number:)

Aye

Just phoned Telkom. They said something about sending out a technician today after 10.

So I give them till 12:00 today till I phone again. :D :D :D :D

Ok guys I am still alive but I have been shot in both legs!

So the line is installed (The guy pitched at 17:15 but he did phone and say that he was going to be late)

So why have I been shot in both legs. Let’s put it like this:

Telkom is full of sh***! They send out their techies and they install but guess what the line does not work!!!! So yeah I got my line installed in 2 weeks but I have no sync or anything cause "Maybe we have not connected you to the exchange"

The funny thing is the new line can receive calls.....

Oh well they told me it should be sorted out tomorrow so lets see!

After my line was installed, I could make calls and receive calls for about an hour afterwards. Then for some weird reason I couldn't call and if someone tried to phone me they got through to someone else entirely!!

It got sorted out the next day tho. :)

Should always take the techies number, because nagging one person will have more effect than nagging a call centre and getting through to a different person each time ;)

I also got a call thi morning, they are sending someone on Saturday supposedly.

No explanation or apology for why no one pitched up yesterday.........

Ok so here is an update:

Phone and they said that jumpers etc. still have to be set at the exchange. Should be sorted out by Monday.

Now the problem is do I believe them or not!

Let me tell you how easy it was for me........ but in London.

I was moving flat 2 days ago. I phoned BT on Tuesday advising that I'll be in a new flat on Wednesday and needed my line transferred. Since it was falling within the same exchange I could keep my number. On Wednesday I got an SMS stating that my line was transferred. I moved my first load, took the phone with and what do you know, my line was transferred and working. Cost you ask, FREE, as long as I stay with BT for 3 months minimum. I'll also be connecting to a new ADSL provider.... www.tiscali.co.uk . Unlimited Calls, Local and National 24/7 and 8Mbit ADSL, unlimited and unshaped for £21.99 pm. Yes for both! Add that to the BT line rental of £10.50pm and I'm sorted!

Don't mean to brag, just some info......

Sad thing is, is that I'll be back in SA next year.....

I'm willing to bet that by the time you return to SA, most of the people currently waiting for DSL will still be.

Well, what can I say? No wonder it is so cold and cloudy in Gauteng, they actually came this morning as they promised!

And it's working.....

Miracles still happen!

Funny how this miracle is suppose to be an everyday thing. :D
I didn't know Telkom even got up out of bed, let alone install ADSL on a weekend! :p

Its Wednesday morning on a cold dark winters day in Cape Town. I sit at my desk and wait. Today is my install day!

Telkom said between 9 and 12 this morning so lets see what happens. I have to admit I have my hopes up and I am going to be very disappointed if they don’t pitch.

Another thing. If they install today that was a two week turnaround! That’s for a new line and ADSL install.

Your'e very lucky...They told me the same thing, made an App with me for the following day... I even cancelled my appointments for the day...I waited all day no Telkom...I phoned said they where coming the next day, the next day, No Telkom. I phoned about 4ish...They told me the quality of the lines where no good ...Believe it or not! I'm still waiting1 year Later(3years in all)...

Now That's Disappointment For You!...

Ok so its Monday morning. I am giving them until 10:00 and then I am phoning. They just better hope they don’t tell me to wait another 48 hours!

ok so I phoned. It sounded like nothing was done, as this lady knew nothing I was talking about! So she now has logged it again!

I am going to phone every hour on the hour today!

If is not sorted out by Friday I am locking myself to the local exchange gate cause that apparently where the problem is!
