ADSL D-Day

GOOOOOOOOD News!!!

Ok So just got a call from home to say that my adsl sync light is on! :D :D So things are looking good. So when I get home today I will configure ISP and hopefully my next post will be from my adsl line! :p :p

Terence.... Think back on how you felt over the weekend and then read this post here.

Now you tell me that I don't have fair grounds to go postal with an AK-47 at Telkom headquarters, and claim temporary insanity.....

Ok So lets give everyone a full update:

1. ADSL Line - Up and running and I am online.
2. Telephone line installed for ADSL - Not active because they need to send some1 out to "install" before it is activated. What I don’t understand is that I am online browsing and my phone can receive calls so I don’t know what they must "install"

THIS IS THE BEST ONE:
3. TelkomISP - They cancelled my account cause I yes I took to long to phone them for my details when in fact I was waiting for telkom to install my line!

4. I am happily browsing without a telephone line!

:D :D :D :D

hm.... my suggestion for all the cape town boys are. u c a tec. STOP him and give him your ref. hold him ( gun point if u have to ) but u will get is sorted soon. my experience the tec really wants to help ( but also doesnt want his boss asking y he never made it to another clients home.) and take numbers names. If at all possible go to the Telkom dispatch centre ( I have no idea where this is but clients seem to find them) if u call the call centre be nice. ( we would go out our way to help someone who appreciates what we are trying to do for them. if u mean we will just do our job. (sure its nice calling Telkom reps idiots. but look at it like this, would you insult a chefs food at a restaurant before you eat there? NO!!) the thing about cape town is that we dont have as many problems as in the north so our tecys are mostly not that busy. and most likely they got held up by someone who wants the world of the tec.
And self install that is good to get your line installed quick, but if it don’t work, u will probably wait longer.

My problem is that I am nice, I ask how is your day to the consultants etc. and all i get in return is that I must wait another 48 hours. That’s why I was getting upset.

Today I am told I cant signup for TelkomISP cause my line is not active. The thing is all is working, all that need to be done is to set my line to active but telkom wont do that until a tech comes to my place again for the 2nd time!

Sorry if I missed this, but why are you going to use Telkom as your ISP?

I am currently using a prepaid web africa account. I don't like their email address cause it ends with org.za other wise I would use them to host my email.

How is Axxess? Any other suggestions?

I c there is beef with Telkom as an ISP. i dont actually have an problem with them. (plus I love the benefits of working for Telkom) whats the problem with TelkomISP? Besides the bandwidth

Well besides it being Telkom ... why does it take days to get a login credentials from them ???.

WebAfrica gave me a new account ONLINE within minutes and emailed me the account details.

Your email is the least of your worries ... perhaps there is a keylogger or trojan installed on your PC when you used IE or received spam email via Outlook Express which now have already sent your password to some Russian mafia.

Also I would trust Google far more than any ISP since Google employees have no access to private client information (it is a dismissable offence if you get caught while doing it there) than some random ISP who employs dime a dozen random people who I don't know who could easily snoop your mailbox.

ahhhh but there u are wrong. I can get u a username and password while u are on the phone. ( not me but u know what I mean) whoa did you speak to ,to get that info? 10215? 0800 500 200? thought so

axxes.
but i would prefer u go with Telkom. its much more easy. and u will not have to be sent back and forth between axxes and ADSL tec support

I went to the client centre and asked for an account like any customer would and the order was logged on the system and I was told they would contact me within 48 hours.

I still had a disagreement with the sales droid behind the counter when I asked them why it took so long to create a simple stupid login account ... gave up in frustration.

One would think that their system would see I had already had Telkom phone and my credit history was good and they would be able to automatically generate me a login account and give me the details on the spot.

It seems the client ordering system and the system that TelkomInternet uses was not integrated when I applied.

For pete sake the person had Outlook Express running in the background and alt-tabbed and cut and paste info from the one screen to an email in order to pass the information on to the technical network dept that actually was supposed to create my login.

This was about 2 years ago.
