Whats up guys

So I am currently on the telkom 10gb + 10gb contract and am thinking of moving to ADSL . The 10Gb just isn't enough. Seeing that my parents dont wanna pay that much more for internet, my budget is pretty tight and i am actually considering a 2mbps uncapped package from Axxess which comes out to ~R230 pm.

However upon looking at line rental fees, there is a line installation fee as well as an installation fee (which you can choose the self installation option which is free) . However when I select to rent a new line through Axxess, this line installation fee isnt mentioned anywhere.

What is this line installation fee? Is this cost avoidable?
I do currently have a telkom voice line with.

Also, are there any packages anyone can reccommend in the R200 to R300 price range?

Any help would be highly appreciated

Thanks

If you have a phone line I don't think there will be any installation fee but I might be wrong on that. You can look at some afrihost deals. They have a 10gb + 10gb package for R29 and free rated data from midnight to 6PM. So the 20 gigs will only be used for 6 hours of the day. Not sure what the line rental will be from afrihost but it will be the R29 plus line, shouldn't be more than R200 I think

That is a lot of smilies..... Anyways since you already have a Telkom Voice line as long as it's a postpaid aka open line then you can get adsl on it.

So you basically just apply for a adsl line at Telkom or any service provider and after a few days the land line will just start working for adsl. There is no adsl installation fees involved only when you have no account and no line then there is a way to bypass it by simply applying for a calling plan too.

SO since you already have a voice line that is not applicable. See where you can get a decent price on line rental and if you want cheap data Afrihost is the way to go with their double data and free time you can't beat them on price on the low end packages.

You will end off with tons of data for a few rand a month.

Loads of smilies, but okay if he is happy then nice :)

Just apply for the dsl line, get a dsl router, find an isp like Afrihost or Crystal Web etc, enter details and there you go

Emoji overload o.0

Apply for a Telkom voice line, I applied for a Weekender+ or something like that so the installation fee is waived. Once that's done, apply for a DSL line with Afrihost, choose your data and you're done :)

Check their site for pricing and which packages works for you.

Haha the tones of emojis are there so that my long essay is a bit more interesting to read. Thanks a lot for the awesome feedback guys. @nadir @iops

@cavedog thanks a lot I'm so glad that cost is avoidable.

I am actually thinking of pushing it a bit and opting for a 4mbps line from Afrihost and then a 40Gb data package from them. This works out to around R295 so is just within my budget. And I will highly benefit from the night data as I am always up downloading at that time.

@icemanbrfc I'm considering getting a second hand router from Carbonite or somewhere just to start off with.

Will be applying for this asap!

Thanks a million for the help guys, it's very much appreciated! :)

P.S I cut down on smileys in this reply :P
