Adsl in the 'Platteland'

have you checked to see if Neotel has coverage in your area? They seem to be providing outlying areas with coverage first, so you you never know.

Aren't they only available in Gauteng atm? Or where can I find out?

or, if you get no joy from there .... read the Neotel section of this forum ;)

I have been to zastron once, actually twice.
And I reckon your only option would probably be 3G from mtn or voda

Do you need a passport to visit there???
No, just imagine a small, quiet, dorp at the foot of a ountain with a hole in it.
The kinda place telkom etc dont care about. That is Zastron. They do have a place that makes great biltong though

Does telkom even know you exist? Maybe that is why it says "service unavailable" when u enter your number.

Would hate to live there and my line goes down. Imagine the waiting time to get a techie out to come fix it.

When a horse is available, and the farmer aint sowing his crops, the farmer will take care of it

Lol, it isn't that bad. There aren't 3g available here. But edge is good, downloading at 30kb/s usually. And btw here lives 32000
people. But 30000 is black...

So? We love everybody equaully. All 32000 of them :D

My worst memories (ok, not that bad) are of a school 'camp' in Zastron, was more like living in hell. Oh well.

If not try telkom's wimax option. no phone needed and telkom targets customers who can't get ADSL the lady told me a telkom.

Okay, but I have a phone line, and have closer option 3 or 4, not sure. But I want to upgrade to the one where you get dsl plus 1gb cap.

Best is to call your local telkom representatives. Not everyone reads e-mail ;)
Ask them what options are available to you, maybe it is easy for them to just upgrade your switch...
If that does not work, the neotel option may be viable. The Vodacom / MTN route is a third possibility but the towers in your area may not be upgraded yet though... So again Call them and ask.

Ask your local internet cafe, computer shop if they have ADSl. stop a Telkom technican if you see one, ask one of them!
