ADSL installed in 19 days from ordering. Couldnt believe my ears when the Telkom Tech phoned me on Saturday to come and do my installation!!! Was sooo happy, sommer got horribly pissed on Saturday night..... ME HAPPY NOW!!!! And still hungover...:p

You see?

People even celebrate when they eventually get ADSL in South Africa.
A mere common practice overseas, hardly worth getting slammed over. :D

Ha Ha

Was wondering when that question was going to pop up... :) Promise no bribes. Ordered my line through X-DSL and everything just went sooo smoothly.. I thought that im going to wait more than 8 weeks, but thank`goodness when the tech phoned. (there was actually 2 vans outside my property) i thought i had smoked something funny when i saw it... Ha ha Stay in PTA east.

Service provider

X-DSL is a servise provider that i have ordered ADSL from. They organized everything, line ordering, installation and they are priced very cheaply....

That's because us South Africans are so used to Telkom's kaak serivce. So the day they actually shape up, we celebrate like there is no tomorrow.

We shouldn't celebrate?! We should give them a moerse klap! What about the rest of us that had to wait 6+ weeks/months??

Hope you offered the Telkom Engineer a knertsie or two as well...after giving him a moerse klap!

Ha Ha

Well the Telkom tech came to put the line in like 2 days b4 and then it was a contractor that came to install the phone socket. And he was 1 moorse big oom, so, thats a no, didnt give him a klap.

Some ISP's now get like a "Telkom Reprasentative" at their premises. ie: Telkom sends one of their okes to come and sit permanently at the ISP's office and he/she acts as the link between the ISP & Telkom.

This means that when that ISP's client phone, the ISP channels it through the reprasentative which takes it directly to Telkom. Thus enabling faster service with installations... maybe that happened here too. :)
