Hi All

I've come here for some help.

As the title says I live in Observatory in Cape Town and I have had ADSL nightmares for about a year now...

I've basically been told by Afrihost that the exchange near Observatory ( I believe it's in Salt River ) is massively congested, and has been for the last 11 months and that Telkom isn't going to be doing anything about it for the foreseeable future... that's what I've been told...

Now I use my connection for work, ( large files from clients, video etc. ) and I also game frequently, so I need some kind of decent internet solution quite urgently.

Now my question is this: If I am stuck in Observatory, as I am not moving just for internet connectivity, what are my options if Telkom isn't going to fix this anytime soon? Do I go mobile? Some files I get from clients are in excess of 2 gigs, so that sounds like it would get expensive very fast.

Is anyone else experiencing any issues with their ADSL in Observatory? If not, what setup/ISP etc. are you using that I could perhaps move to?

I really appreciate the help/ advice.

Thanks!

The Clareinch exchange in Claremont had issues for about 5-6 months. I picked up the issue early on and only after about a month did I get TelkomZA to really take a look and pick up the problem. Once the problem was confirmed it took about 8 weeks or so to get the problem fixed.

So even though it might take a while, try PM TelkomZA and see if they can help you out.

I will try yeah thanks :) It's been 11 months since my fault was first recorded though. I'm slowly losing hope, Afrihost claims they very specifically escalated my problem, not sure what good that would do though.
