Hi ..

Well i know about 384 line going up to 1mb and 1 mb going ip to 2 mb soon..

Im on a 4mb line and just would like to know if the 4mb and 10mb are being upgraded soon aswell?..

Thnx

Lol.. ignore the above sarcastic comments. No, 4mbps lines are not being bumped up. If you are lucky though, your exchange might be ADSL2+ compatible and supplied with metro-ethernet (fibre). In this case, you can upgrade your 4mbps line to 10mbps (or as close to 10mbps as your copper line can support, depending on copper quality and distance from the exchange), for free. Phone Telkom on 10210 to find out.

Hmmm so lets go with a straight awnser NO.. :p ..
@Saajid i see what you'r trying to say but that would not be happening anytime soon ..just feels like a 4mb line isnt so fast!

Well i cant compare our speeds against US/UK ect ect.. seeing the dont even know what a shaped line is.. :/ they run unshaped uncapped at a very low prices..somthing SA still needs to achieve

..if any of you maybe know..why are we even being shaped and why is unshaped so expensive!!

We get shaped because Telkom is raping the country. It is just expensive to get bandwidth.

Hmmm comes down to my next qeustion..Seeing that Mweb is doing so greate with customer service ,better prices and better speeds..Why dont they try and be the next company that insatlles dsl lines ect ect..i mean c'mon they do give ALOT better service than Telkom..

I might be mistaken here, but imagine running lines for every home/business in SA to give users access to a Fibre/Copper line. I probably think MWEB feel it is not financially viable for them to do it. But honestly it needs to be done.

I was asked, why don't Multichoice do what they do in the States and think UK. Install a fibre line to the home, then there won't be a need for a Satellite at home and you can you use for Internet purposes. Then maybe we would be able to watch non-breaking up television when it starts raining

Much better idea!!..seeing it rained here last night and could hardly watch anything on DSTV...but i see what your point!..

Well yeah that is true..would'nt be a cheap operation for Mweb..but would have been amazing :)

Well since Naspers owns MWEB and Multichoice they could lay fibre and kill two birds with 1 stone.

My exchange is 10 megs and going to maybe be 20 megs in future or 40 but my UMC box isnt so stuck on 4 megs lol so it isnt only about the exchange/line quality since my attenuation is like 3/8
