Anyone else had this problem?

Been having it for over a week now, and Telkom has no clue, and the technician is taking his sweet time to come through (was supposed to be this morning, took the morning off work, but he never showed)

Im starting to boil over at the incompetence of telkom over this issue.

btw, the line has never worked from when I moved in. (beginning of april)

and before anyone asks, I have tried numerous isp account, my dads telkom account, my 2 webafrica accounts and the telkom guest accounts.

I have 2 untouched 30 gig local accounts that will be waisted this month.

0800 375 375 did you try them ? the tech dude there helped me out yesterday was very clued up and very helpfull for a telkom employee :D

I have a client in CPT who has this problem, DSL syncs, but no internet (no DSL accounts connect)

Apparently, it is a line problem, logged a ticket and hoping for the best :(

I have phoned that number every day since last week thursday!! I agree, some of the guys are more clued up than others, but nobody has been able to help me as of yet.

I had the same problem last week. Even the Telkom guest account did not work. Logged calls with Telkom. They said that it is some problem on their exchange and that there is no traffic flowing. ( What every that means). The next day my internet worked again.

Been having issues for 3 weeks now. It's a problem with the exchange. Every time I checked with Telkom they say it's a network issue with the exchange.
My problem seems to have been sorted out for the past couple of days, but every time I hear the disconnect beeps, I dread that it's gonna be down for hours again. So far, so good.

I had that problem last week, the Telkom tech couldn't find anything wrong with my line, he had the port reset and the problem was gone.

I've just come online now after been unable to synch for the last few hours. So who knows what Telkom is doing these days.

Last week I was told there are over 1500 faults in my area.

1. Has the line been activated, sometimes things go wrong here?
2. Ask them to reset the port on the DSLAM
3. Ask them to move you to a different port on the DSLAM

ive been having same problem for months and no one helps me at telkom they clueless or lazy and sync problems every few days

2. Ask them to reset the port on the DSLAM
3. Ask them to move you to a different port on the DSLAM

2 and 3 never worked for me

lines installed properly i presume its decades old

The line has been activated (with the help of 3G) But even if not, the guest account should still work (and be able to browse the telkom website)
They have reset the port, with no success.

The technician finally phoned me this afternoon. I explained to him the problem and he seems to thing the DSLAM is faulty and needs to be replaced.
He said he would phone me later again (that was at about 3pm)
He also said that it seems to be a common problem recently (he has been having the same issues for over a week now)

I will let you guys know.

Im assuming the techie did change the DSlam

I highly doubt it as that job would take many hours and interrupt service to other clients. If such a job was carried out it would be done around midnight.
You were most likely moved to a different port or a line card was replaced.
