Hi All

I have something weird going on here and would love an explanation.

Sometime during the night my 4 Mb/s line goes to virtually nothing. This has been happening for more than a week now.

It appears to right itself at 07h30 in the morning and hums along at 3.5 plus.

So this morning I got up at 03h00 and it clocked 0.42 download and upload speed a 0.06 again. No amount of router reset could fix it.

It hobbled along until 07h00 and then clocked in at 1.75.

As per "normal" it came back by itself at around 7h30 and runs fine.

Any reasons for this lot????

Who is your ISP and does it occur when changing ISP account?

If not above, possibly a faulty port on the DSLAM or exchange congestion.

Also can use Zertop's tool to ping your exchange :). Do it while things are fine and when you experience a problem and send data to your ISP then followup hourly if not daily ;).

Hi Yuu -
Thanx
It is a Telkom home line on telkom D-Link router - at 03h00 we can rule out any congestion on the Telkom feed in Margate, KZN, Ping when running is 0.3 to 0.4 ms as tested on my broadband speed test when running and 0 when doing 0.45 download. Why and how can a faulty prot rest itself - this I cannot understand.

It does not sound like a faulty port, maybe try logging on with a different account when it's slow and see what happens.
