ADSL prices: New player shakes things up

I'm glad things are moving along, albeit sometimes slower than snails pace, but moving nonetheless

Hell Yeah!! Here we finally go!! Balls to the wall, lets hope its not just blowing up the proverbial balloon again.....

IPINX has two anchor clients – Sainet and iBurst – and says it is currently inundated with new providers keen to sign up to use their offerings.

So does this mean that iBurps clients will also have access to cheaper bandwidth then?

A drop in ipc pricing would be huge. It''ll probably have more an affect than the cables, or atleast seacom.

Hope this all turns out well, I am planning to get myself adsl in two months time. 3G just doesn't cut it anymore.

The price, per Mbps for Telkom’s IPC as well as for local and international bandwidth, decreases significantly with higher capacities

Uncapped... anyone? :D

"And there are even rumours that Telkom is planning improved pricing on their IPC products, something which may coincide with its planned IP Stream product aimed at the wholesale ADSL market. This will further enable ISPs to cut their data rates and develop more affordable ADSL services."

mid-year - price adjustments will be volume breaks for high capacity customers on IPC

At best yes

Its certainly good to see the ADSL pricing come down, from various providers.
Just wishing Telkom would also look at the basic ADSL package... the data from the ISPs have come down, but u still need to subscribe to analogue line, which I have no use for, I just need/want ADSL line.
And... is the ADSL technology not due for an upgrade?
What is this 'new generation' network that Telkom keeps advertising on TV every day? Is it still basic ADSL, that Telkom wants to dish up as a better connection, or will (when?) it be some improvement on ADSL (like ADSL2, ADSL2+ ?)
I want to get ADSL, but before I make the big capital investment, just wanna know if I shouldn't wait a few more months, if its eminent (like the day the World Cup starts :D ) ?
