ADSL Routers with common fault

Over the past couple of weeks, myself & 3 friends have had routers go belly-up.
1 x Siemens, 2 x Netgear & 1 x Billion.

The fault with all is that they fail to connect to internet. All the other functions on all of them work.
What causes this type of common problem.

they are not all from the same residential area - so I doubt a power surge is the cause

Same ISP perhaps? I'm with Afrihost and it was happening a lot 2 to 4 weeks ago IIRC.

But over and above that my issue is my wifi acts up from time to time, where one device will have a problem connecting to the router but yet the other devices are fine. Then rebooting the router fixes the issue for a while.

My router is a Billion 7300G.

try some cheap tenda's from scoop , and see what happens , they so cheap if it breaks is not much off a loss.

Without numbers from the DSL modem server, then your every answer can only be speculation. The modem has a server containing relevant numbers measured in dB. These may be entitled Signal Strength or Signal to Noise ratio. Those are the very first facts obtained when a problem is between your modem and Billion's DSLAM. Provide those numbers so that the few who really know this stuff can provide a complete answer in a next reply.
