ADSL Service

sucktech caps international to 6KB/sec. Im on 128 package. Local is "uncapped" which means I get about 12-13KB/sec avg at the good times. So yes, a proxy would be useful for the sentech guys if you cant handle burst speed of 6KB/sec.

I think the 256 guys are getting good speeds so its only the 128s who are battling

Interesting that I was downloading a 360mb WCG movie from the netherlands at the same time as arf9999's post, which completed at 38KB/s with browsing etc. How's that possible?

well bobs_uncle did say he has a 'close to 1mbit line' therefore the bandwidth was contended. (this is my educated guess)

I wouldnt mind if I had access to the VPN test account *hint hint* so I could do some testing on behalf of sentech 128 before I switch to ADSL.

If I could get over 10KB/sec on international stuff I would be quite chuffed (mostly because it is more than the imposed limit and I have an evil grudge when it comes to sentech)

Actually, Sentech users could be quite valuable as they will pay the same money but use far less bandwidth. Or they could pay R50 or something..only fair since Sentech (128 at least) is technically capped to (by my calculations) to about 10GB a month if maxed out which is impossible.

The only screwup that an uncapped service WONT solve is sentechs crappy uploads. Since the throttling the service has degraded badly if you need to upload. I think this limit is set on the actual connection.

I used to upload on the one day at 110kb/s.. those were the days with a nice decent(in sentech standards) stable 110. No spikes..

Now its like 300 constant pings and can barely upload anything! (maybe its just this tree that has grown in the way of my LOS?)

Anyway what gfly said, would be nice to download over 10gig at FULL speeds without recieving a letter being told to 'pipe' down or else...

Hi everyone. Logs state nothing went down last night. There is a possibility that the proxy server disallowed the logons. I'll up the rate to a 100 logons!

For those that weren't able to access the proxy, can you please post the IP range you are on. The proxy is open to all access (no firewall controls are in place to block certain IP ranges).

What is the general comment on the service thus far ?

Nope I still cant even get a login request. I get nothing back from the proxy. Even with the firewall down. IP address: 66.18.x.x

The following person is trying to access the proxy. Can you please verify if its not yourself?

1112250753.845 3 165.165.88.207 TCP_DENIED/407 1740 CONNECT 165.165.73.28:16395 - NONE/- text/html

Notice to everyone. If you are having problems accessing the service, please would you do the following:

Click Start -> Run -> cmd

type: telnet proxy-gate.nebular.za.net 8189

This will cause a firewall hit on my side. If it doesn't, it means that your ISP is filtering the traffic on port 3128 most likely.

C:\>telnet proxy-gate.nebular.za.net 8189
Connecting To proxy-gate.nebular.za.net...Could not open connection to the host,
on port 8189: Connect failed

Thanks, bobs_uncle!

I've been using your proxy for about 12 hours now, with a steady speed of around 44K (from easynews.com)

Great stuff -- now if only my torrents worked through your proxy :(
