ADSL speed upgrades and uncapped prices

As nice as the 2MB package sounds I think I shall take the R170 saving thanks. If MWEB was a little cheaper then I would consider the awesome speed.

Why do ISP's still advertise 384kbps packages. Does it make sense when the slowest line will be 1Mbps?
For Total cost, Cybersmart looks cheapest at R299 + R149 = R448pm vs OpenWEb at R179 + 149 + R165 = R493pm
for uncapped 1Mbps.

I think entry level should be standardised at 1Mbps

Let me get this straight.
We used to pay R599 a month in total for 1Mbps
Now we are paying R339 a month for 1Mbps

If we get a upgrade to 2Mbps are we still paying R599 a month?

I might just be downgrading from 4mbps to a 2mbps line with 2mbps uncapped once the 1mb to 2mb upgrades are complete...

I live/work in Gordons Bay and our maximum ADSL speed from Telkom is 4Mbps. We pay the same as other users getting 10Mbps all around the country and am getting gatvol at the pathetic download speeds! This is discrimination of the worst kind.

Raysmith, I live in Gordons Bay and I get full 10Mbits DSL speeds. Whereabouts are you located, and what is your ISP/package and modem? It could be distance from exchange, but maybe there is some simpler problem in your case.

2) Option 2 is for those customers who have been customers with the same ISP for over a year - Keep the charge( at 1mb rates ) consistent for a 3 or 6 month period but throttle you down to 1mb once you exceed you monthly average data consumption for the past year.

so i used 1108972GB the past 12months.....
