ADSL unbundling will happen eventually

Im not sure if this has been asked before and if im off topic, but cant telkom be sued for anti-competitivness? the same way microsoft was sued for anti competitiveness? is there no way to fight this??

Telkom is a corporate doing what any corporation would do to maximise its profits. Why should it relinquish the last mile, when it got it for free from the government (payed by taxpayers) and is making quite a lot off it. ICASA should be sued as it is their responsibility to put regulations in place. They are dragging their feet probably with encouragement from Telkom, but that in essence is the problem. They are not complete independent and are useless as getting regulations drafted, approved and enforced.

As for the article, I get the gist, and agree. Its all relative. In Bahrain, some people are still stuck with dialup speeds. Two hours (by car) away in Saudi you have fibre to your home. Things have changed, at a snails pace, but they have.

Agree with your post but not this bit.

Telkom had to pay the government for the assets it inherited from the Department of Post and Telecommunication in October 1991. The unfotunate part is that the payment ended up in a general Treasury fund and was not reserved for future telecom issues.
