ADSL unbundling will happen eventually

No, it should not happen 'eventually' it should happen now. Its already wrong that telkom controls it and it will continue to be wrong.

We have waited for 8 years... for what? Heavily shaped uncapped internet and PerGB prices that are still above R10... Not good enough.

We are where other countries were at around 1999 to 2002 or so. Our internet is not moving forward at a rate that can compare to first world status.

Instead of saying "ok we have this, lets give them another 8 years to come up with a better package" we should say "Right, grow up telkom and ANC and give the consumer some rights, we want and NEED better internet connectivity at lower prices which will allow growth in the sector and bring more money and education into the county, stop being such a55holes and let us grow"

LOL @ article! :D

"EVENTUALLY" I will be 60 years old... in another twenty years or so!

Well written article, but lacking substance. I agree we've come a long way, but there's no indication that local loop unbundling is on the horizon. I don't agree that we should all sit around being pleased that things are better. As you said, 8 years to get to where we should have been from the beginning. 384k uncapped for R480 per month (analogue line rental included) is hardly cause to celebrate. It's progress, but there is a hell of a long way to go still.

Aaaaaarrrgggghhhhh !

That's what we heard last time:

2011 deadline unlikely to be met
It is now two years later and very little has happened in the LLU space. LLU is such a pressing issue for smaller telecoms providers that the Internet Service Providers' Association of South Africa (ISPA) earlier this year called on ICASA to confirm that it is on track to meet the November 2011 deadline for the unbundling of the local loop.
