Anyone ever done this calculation...
ADSL Capacity in SA maxes at 52KBytes/s or 416Kbits/s, therefore:

Max theoretical capacity:
52KB/s x 60s x 60m x 24h x 30d = 134784000KB or 134GB roughly.

Cap:
3GB therefore only 2.2% utilisation per month is allowed by Telkom before Cap is enabled. Doesn't that sound just rediculous ?

So how many minutes per day of max utilization would that be ?

Em? Its too late to think, but I reckon constantly downloading for 13 hours would hit the 3gig very nicely.

That would mean in order to have a usable connection throughout the month you would have to limit yourself to less than 30 minutes usage per day...

I hate Telkom :(

What you could do, is get Sentech's 128k option (649 per month) Then route international traffic through the Sentech connection, and your local traffic through your ADSL line.

Then you'll only need 1 ISP account, 680 for the ADSL rental, and have uncapped international bandwidth with the ping of ADSL for local gaming etc

Upload speeds are also about 52kb/s so u can times it all by 2 to about 268GB which makes the cap about 1.1% of the maximun uasuage

noone, how do you control the return path of the packets sentr out, as they will return to the gateway address. [:D]

getting broadband next week 512Kb/s in western australia, just thought id add that im capped at 480GB for 3 months, 160GB (bytes) a month on average otherwise i exceed there fair use policy!
currently on dialup, connected 27/7 and download 360MB daily equalling 10.8 Gig a month (no cap at all.. downloads, uploads, time)
sorry, weather maybe better there, but here im on the net all the time, hence inside[:)]

Is someone who is 2 short shorter than someone who is short or twice as tall

oh sorry, the cost $80 australian, half a days wages[:D]

Is someone who is 2 short shorter than someone who is short or twice as tall

Insomnia.. SHUTUP [:p][:p] lol

Do you want us do become depressed or something.

However will you manage with only 160GB/month. Only at full capacity running 512k/s 24/7, which is highly unlikely would you be able to do this:

64KB/s x 60s x 60m x 24h x 30d = 165888000 or 165GB roughly.

So that AU agreement is pointless.

I'm sure they'd forgive a measly 5GB over you limit, oh wait...

WE DON'T EVEN GET 5GB[:(!]

AAAAAAARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!![:(!]
