I have replied to him, so will see what he can do :)

Been on 10mb FAST for 2 years, and suddenly interleave was activated;my SNR stats did not even change!

That extra 20ms latency to the exchange is really making a huge negative inpact in online games.

I have a problem now where the Telkom dlink router keep syncing my line on interleave but when I change it to a dlink 2500 non Telkom router it is back on fast path....

This is very annoying because it is causing the exchange hop to be 33ms when there is nothing wrong with the line. I don't know what the person was thinking when they just decided that they were just going to implement these changes WITHOUT ANY NOTICE what so ever.

Yes I can confirm that Telkom dlink router is syncing on interleave on BOTH my 10Mbps adsl lines. My old netgear and non telkom branded dlink 2500 is syncing both lines on Fast path.

I did notice that when I powered up my Telkom router I sometimes get a error when logging in saying the router is currently being configured by the Telkom ACS server. Anyone seen the same thing?

Yes, I have same thing when router (Telkom one) fails to sync due to Telkom-side issues.

Ok so this issue also happened to my line at home. Latencies increase from less than 10ms to over 20ms. Even have graphs to show when it happened. When changing the router from a Zyxel to my older Billion, latencies became even worse, going over 40ms to the 1st hop!

Put back the Zyxel and messaged @TelkomZA about it. Received a message back today that there was an issue with my port profile which they fixed. They suggested a reboot and that I feedback, which I did.

My issue is now resolved thanks to @TelkomZA

Having the same problems here. My lines have all been put on interleave mode (home and office lines). Besides for increased pings, I am noticing drops in PPP sessions and general instability. I have PM'ed TelkomZA about it. Hoping for a reply...

BTW Our office lines went completely dead on Sunday morning and I was called in at 4am for IT support. After Telkom reset the port it came right. According to another thread, I was not the only one who experienced this issue over the past weekend. Seems like Telkom are only taking steps backwards with their ADSL infrastructure lately... who wants interleaved mode? What a pity!.. So much for 40Mbps VDSL and 100Mbps fibre - Maybe if you live in Eldoraigne estate etc, otherwise forget it

Just noticed this happened in the last couple of days, dropped to Interleave from Fast path. Adding this extra 20ms can be a big deal and it's annoying there's no way to manually disable it. There's no problem with my line, very high SNR etc.

There is absolutely nothing that can be done. I tried everything and Telkom is even more clueless not even knowing what interleave and fast path is....

I was able to fix it by downgrading and upgrading my package. Then it changed back to fast path.....

Ugh, well all I can hope then is that they upgrade the local exchange to VDSL soon, and that the whole Fast path vs Interleave thing doesn't apply on that.

...and its back on interleave again :(

Not only that: router reports that the attainable rate is ~24Mbps, but line won't sync anything more than 17Mbps @ 6dB SNR downlink.

No response from TelkomZA yet, it's been 3 days since reporting it.

I have exactly the same issue. I was happely synching at 20Mbps with an SNR of 12dB. It dropped to 17 Mbps @ 6dB SNR downlink. It used to be on FAST but now on INTERLEAVED. Latency went from 7ms to 30ms.

I think Telkom perhaps reconfigured all their MSAN profiles. I also had no repsonse from @TelkomZA yet.

Yup, my stats looked very similar (pretty much the same attenuations too).

TelkomZa sorted it out again. Interleave was disabled and they say it's sync'ing at 20480 again. I'll confirm when I get home.

This is becoming a real problem now and I hope that Telkom sort out the issues they are experiencing: a sync profile should not be modified if the sync is considered stable! Interleaving should also only be used if the sync is not reaching its speed targets!

We had the same problem with our office line. We were syncing at 16mbps up and 764kbps up where before we had 20Mbps by 1Mbps. It was very difficult to keep the fault open because according to them the line passed their checks without errors. Fortunately a competent lady phoned me about the fault and I explained that it is a sync speed issue which doesnt resolve when rebooting the modem like it used to. I basically expalined to her that "The line was working fine before on fast path and prior to Telkom implementing the new Express Line Management suite". She dispatched a technician to check on the sync speeds and since then we are back to normal 20Mbps/1Mbps with fastpath. Thank goodness even. Next up I need to sort out my home DSL. My line has been dead for over 10 days for no apparent reason, and TelkomZA is ignoring my PM about it. Will be sure to contact their accounts department to arrange billing compensation because this is simply unacceptable !

Speak of the devil, I see my line is back on Interleaving and 8Mb sync on my 10Mb line. Sigh. Have pm'ed TelkomZA. But I wish there was a way for them to implement permanent exceptions to this damn annoying management system
Edit: messaged their support who quickly fixed it again :)

Interleaved is a royal pain in the buttocks. I wish Telkom would give us an option to disable it permanently.
