ADSL2+ vs G.DMT

I noticed the other day that I can sync with ADSL2+ and G.DMT. Does this mean that the DSLAM supports 10mbps or could you have synced with ADSL2+ long before the upgrade? They promised a new DSLAM in my area, but my line stats are stil terrible, so I'm trying to figure out if I'm on the new DSLAM yet.

The checker says

This service can not be converted to 10Mbps Fastest DSL at this stage. Please check again in future as we are continually upgrading the network.

But isn't it strange that DSLAM supports ADSL2+? Could it be that they added new cards to the DSLAM?

It may be that while the DSLAM supports ADSL2+ it is not connected to Telkom's Metro Ethernet network yet which means there is not enough backhaul bandwidth to support 10mbps. Telkom only enables 10mbps ADSL at exchanges on their ME network.
