Hi all,

Please can you give me advice on this laptop:

MSI CX72 7QL Intel 7th Gen Kabylake Core i7-7500U up to 3.50GHz CPU / 8GB DDR4 RAM / 1TB Hard Drive / DVD-RW Writer / 17.3" FHD 1920x1080 Anti-Glare Screen / nVidia GeForce 940MX 2GB Dedicated Graphics / Windows 10 64bit / 720p HD Webcam / 802.11 ac Wireless LAN / Bluetooth v4.0 / 7th Gen. Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 1 Year Warranty / 4 Speakers system delivering perfectly balanced and clear sound experience / Matrix Display supporting 4K output up to 2 external monitors

This goes for about R14 000-00.

Is there anything better for this price range, or a slightly lesser specced laptop for cheaper?

Thanks!

I honestly wouldn't call that a gaming laptop, that's just a laptop that can run most games at lowest settings.

What games you want to play?

Why do you specifically want a laptop.
I used to have a beast of a MSI Gaming laptop, but it is not practical for gaming.
Usually the keyboards are terrible, power need to be plugged in any way, screens are mostly too small and they are expensive.
For the same price you can get a desktop pc that is so much better.
I understand if people get a laptop for business that can play some casual games every now and again.
But a 100% gaming laptop is a waste imo

Agreed.

Maybe she already has a laptop for the normal stuff in which case she can get a very nice PC for R14k to game on.
